a bit of a south american biased review as i am currently travelling here... firstly totally agree with code99:
red wine: Malbec ´latitud33´ possible the cheapest wine on the menu in any resturant but liquid gold and found all over Argentina
white white: my home country australia chardonay.
my coctails vary from place to place but love the caprihinas in brazil, pisco sour in peru/chile, and mohitos (i am sure i have miss spelt each of those sorry). -- not a fan of fernet con cola tho haha
Reply to this The best beer in the world, in my opinion, is in Romania.
They say it's because of the water. All I know is that Ursus Black is my fav. from anywhere in the world.
Reply to this I thought the beer in Romania was ok but I really liked the wine!!!! It kinda made up for the horrible food!!!!
Reply to this Well, my vote for beers definitely goes to Casteel, Straffe Hendrick and Leffe Bruin in Belgium (but then pretty much anything I've tried there is good, although I've got hundreds more to try there). I could easily be biased as Belgian blood runs through my veins...
Since I've been in Korea I have had kind of a love-hate thing with Soju, but something tells me I won't miss it when I leave! (won't miss Korean beer either!)
I totally agree with the earlier mention of Flor de Cana from Nicaragua, without a doubt the best rum I've ever had... and then also have to agree with the mention of Victoria in Mexico but would add Negra Modelo to that list. Speaking of Mexico, anybody ever had a Michelada? Beer with lime, salt and hot sauce? It's almost a meal in itself...
Reply to this Don't forget Iceland's Brennivín - a cumin seed shot, best served ice cold. The aftertaste is lovely and mild and...well, cumin-y, I guess.
My favourite -for a variety of reasons- would have to be the insane fishbowl-cocktails we got at Rock Bar on Barstreet im Marmaris last summer. Didn't taste too strong, but after 8 of us shared two of these gargantuans...a kebab has never looked so good.
Reply to this When looking for a good rum, don't miss out on One Barrel from Belize - smooth and rich with a hint of butterscotch. Mixes with coke, ginger beer or any juice. Deeeeelicious. 😊
Reply to this Wow, go to Denmark, or Norway, or BevMo in the states and try Akvaavit! SKAAALLLL that stuff will do you in, stronger than Vodka, makes me actually dance!
