Hi my name is Noam Asado, I want to travel the American Continent by Bus. But I don't know how to travel the system just purely by bus. Is it possible to walk across the entire country avoiding Highways? Also how would I travel by bus,I am sure I'd have to switch a lot of buses. But for example if I wanted to get from D.C. to R.I or from Virginia to Florida purely by route of bus/with some walking, how would I do that?

I can't afford to travel by train or airplane, and so that leaves bus/walking/metro whenever thats available. But how? Does anyone here know? Reply to this

Other than a few small charter/regional tour busses, the only bus service in the US is "Greyhound".

Greyhound website

Taking the bus is very slow and is not very comfortable (by western standards) except on a few popular routes. In many cities, bus stations are located in poorer and/or more crime-ridden areas. The US is HUGE, so walking is very impractical unless you want to spend 6 months walking 15-20mi (25-35km) a day! There are Metros in Washington & New York. The cost of traveling by bus varies by when and how you purchase a ticket. For example, from Washington to Miami one-direction costs: $163 in person before departure, $71 online at least 7 days in advance, and just $65 online 14 days in advance.

Rail passes start at $389 valid for 15 days and 8 segments. See the Amtrak website for all the options. Reply to this
