Help on proving onward travel without a return plane ticket
15 years ago, August 13th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #45260
Im planning on travelling all across southern/eastern Africa early next year, and will be returning via europe in 2010. From what I have heard you need to prove you are leaving each country within a certain amount of time( with a return ticket etc). However, I cant have a return ticket because it will be over a year of travelling. Does anyone have any ideas or know how I can get around this or prove that I actually will be leaving each country? Hello Pat 😊

When I was travelling overland in Kenya and Uganda nobody asked to see my leaving ticket. I just bought the bus tickets before each journey. There was not more than a tin roof shed at the border with a couple of guys to stamp the passports. They didnt ask me anything about tickets. But that was 10 years ago...

Go to the American Airlines website and start booking a flight out of Africa. Eventually you'll end up on a screen that looks just like a flight itinerary that you would normally get as if you actually did have a flight. If you're really paranoid you can photoshop the itinerary to make it say "paid". I did this for the Panama boarder and it worked fine. Reply to this
