So we spent 4 days in the beautiful, relaxed and super-bohemian beachside town of Mancora. It was our first stop in Peru after spending a gruelling entire day on a bus to cross the border. We arrived late at night and racked up to a not so great hostal called Hostel Sol y Mar. The guidebooks rate it as value for money and a good place to stay. I disagree. It sounded like we were right next to a nightclub with boom boom boom coming through the walls until 1am and drunkards playing ping pong outside of our door until the small hours too. Sharon and I arrived in Mancora at 4am so needless to say we were tired and just wanted a bed. We jumped into a tuk tuk type car and headed to the Loki Hostel however the second time of trying to stay at a Loki was no more successful than the first and the security guard turned us away without a bat of an eyelid. After trying a few more places without success we were pointed in the direction of the Laguna Surf Hostel and boy did it transpire we lucked out with this place!! Co-written by Gali & Seth: It is best to describe Mancora in one word paradise. Blue skies, sandy beaches, warm breeze, the breathtaking pacific sunset as well as the freshly caught daily tuna made this destination a perfect place for Gali and I to end our South American adventure. Our accommodation was magnificent!!!! Casa Del Playa (in English this means castle by the beach - you can say that again). The staff were attentive, accommodating and pleasant. The rooms can be described as clean & basic, no tv's, phone, or anything electronic for that matter making it more of a getaway... not to mention great showers and a balcony outfitted with a hammock and an AMAZING view of the ocean!!!!!!! First of all a huge apology to all of you that have been waiting to hear from us, I hope you´ll be glad to know that we are in fact safe and just been really bad at keeping up to date with the blog. Once we had conquered Machu Picchu we hung around in Cuzco for a couple of days, once again enjoying the beautiful mix of colonial architecture and Inca ruins while we waited for Dave, Ollie and the three guys they were travelling with to finish their trek. A big night out later to say goodbye to Cuzco and we were all on our way straight to Lima where we checked into a hostel with three tier bunk beds for a couple of days.
