Hola otra vez Me again. As most of you now know i'm on my way back very soon (updated now back!). I'll fill you in on the final stage of the journey. I decided to head back to Argentina after my time in Rio. I got back to Buenos Aires and hit the same routine of watching football and drinking. It’s a hard life. I caught a Boca Junior game which now completes the set of Bs As teams. The best game in South America for atmosphere, which I’ve been to. We then went onto a club later that night. It was one of the strangest I’ve been to. They had a stage with the craziest dancing transvestites. Very surreal. I left Bs As pretty sharpish because the body couldn’t take any more nights out. Got ... read more

Hello everyone, Well yes I know it has been a while since we posted anything on the blog, but as you can imagine, it has been pretty hectic here over the past couple of weeks. I have been given the duty of writing about: (as I´m sure you have all seen in the title) school, beer, and death.... random I know, but you´ll see how they all fit together well in the mosaic of Buenos Aires... We went to the orientation for school on the 6th, and while it was exciting for me because I could understand what the people were saying... the infomation was quite dull and we didn´t really learn Anything new... They did however, have some AMAZING medialunas (like coissants) and we hit up the free stands a couple of times.. hehe. As ... read more

The southernmost city in the world!!! well so it says on my passport...beautiful harbour, bordered with beautiful white peaked mountains...postcard really!!! and home to tierra del fuego national park...where i did some basic hikes. i stayed in one hostel initially which sucked...got put in a room with parents and their two kids and a 60 year old man who travels 6months of each year alone....and leaves his wife back home!!! It was cramped and noisy...and the staff were rude and unhelpful...i came back one day and found that they had moved all my things across to another room...was not impressed at all...i had a fight with them and left to another hostel...this one rocks...big party scene...met alot of fun people...ate lot of dulce de leche...its divine...the aregntinians have it on everything...caramelised milk jam...for breafast, for desert ... read more

Not long after moving to Buenos Aires, i had the good fortune to make friends with dos argentinas who invited several of us exchange students to an asada at one of their (parents) homes (it is not uncommon for argentines to live at home into their 30´s). An argentine asada is an all day barbeque where meats are gradually cooked and served over the course of the party. The portenos (residents of BA) are unbelievably friendly, case and point Flor and Anita, our host, held this asada just for us! The spread they laid out was beautiful, as was their home (it is very uncommon to have a yard in central Buenos Aires). The event lasted about 12 hours and at the end when some tango music started playing, the girls, who are professional tango dancers ... read more

So, I arrived in Buenos Aires after all that waiting, at midnight. I collected my luggage and went to the airline office to collect my free cab ride to my newly chosen home, and she said no. They would only provide a cab if I had missed a connection, not for delays. So then I had to get a cab I would be paying for on my own, which made me angry as I knew it would be expensive. Plus, I don't trust cab drivers not to rip me off in a strange place. And of course, after this ride I felt ripped off beginning with the fact that the meter was running yet we weren't driving because he was chatting. Finally I asked him why we weren't moving and he began to drive. I finally ... read more

At last. It feels like a holiday! By that I mean we had no wake up call this morning. we had no aches and pains by 5PM, etc etc..... We have a lakeside room in a very nice hotel and little planned for the next few days. I fancy fly fishing on the lake but I´m not doing very well at convincing Anna..... Bariloche seems lovely; Incredible views around the lakes, very nice little shopping centre with all manner of shops; seems like there´s lots to do so we are looking into the options tonight over a plate of Mexican delicacies and a few tequila slammers! Pura Vida!! ... read more

This weekend I have NOT been working! For example, yesterday, I woke up at 5am when Gabriella got up to feed the stalions. I then went back to sleep, until 6am, when Thea got up for work. I went back to sleep again. I woke up at 9am when Gabriella popped back in. I went back to sleep again. Fantastic! I eventually dragged myself up about 10am, and just sat in the sunshine reading until the workers bus left for the bright lights of Mercedes at lunch time. I have the weekends off with Ashley and Adi (we are the A team when we work weekends together). Adi now lives in the hostel in Mercedes. The hostel is a little run down, but very laid back, and Adi has been made very much part of the ... read more

Hi friends and family No photos today because the computer is too slow. Not much to take photos of anyway on my 27 hr bus ride to Salta through a heavy rainstorm. Lts of thunder and lightening was fun. Of course the bus was delayed until 2 am but fortunately everything is still open here at that time. Another traveller already had a hostel booked and they managed to squeeze me in too. About to head out to the bus station to find out how Im getting to Bolivia. Hopefully through San Pedro in Chile but there may be delays. I visited Paraguay yesterday (well, before the bus ride, whatever day that was) and saw the largest hydroelectric dam in the world at Itaipu. A really rushed day but I travelled across 4 borders to get ... read more
