HI ALL! WELL TRAVELED TO QUEENSTOWN NEXT, DID NOT LIKE THIS TOWN THAT MUCH, WAS REALLY BUSY, BIG TOURIST TOWN JUST LIKE BLACKPOOL. THE PEOPLE WERE NOT VERY FRIENDLY AT ALL. THIS TOWN IS A PLACE FOR ADRENALINE JUNKIES, LOTS OF THINGS TO DO LIKE SKY DIVES, BUNGI JUMPS AND OTHER CRAZY THINGS. MY MATE DID THE SECOND BIGGEST BUNGI JUMP IN THE WORLD, CALLED THE NEVIS. TAKE A LOOK AT PICS. I DID NOT DO IT BUT DID GO AND WATCH. THE JUMP IS OVER A BIG VALLEY, WERE YOU JUMP FROM A POD SUSPENDED BY WIRES. TO GET TO THIS POD YOU HAVE TO TAKE A CABLE CAR ACROSS. I WENT TO THIS POD BUT COULD NOT JUMP, I HATE THAT KIND OF THING, TELL US WHAT YOU THINK. GLENORCHY IS A SMALL ... read more

Queenstown to Glenorchy The road between Queenstown and Glenorchy give some spectacular views. Many movies are filmed in this area (of course lord of the rings.....). While we were there, the movie 'Chronicles of Narnia part 2' was being filmed. I got the key player on photo, see picture. We visited an old gold mining town (Arrowtown) and the place where bungy jump was found out by AJ Hackett (do you remember the MTV broadcasting when they first started? then you'll may be recognize the bridge). We finished our day trip in Queenstown, where we spend the night. ... read more

After some problems with our car, aka the car was supposedly in sub zero degree temperature and had "glacial frost" on the engine which cracked the engine and somehow caused the car to over heat? therefore it needs a new engine and in the shop for the week, sad. But we managed to make it to Glenochey with some of my other friends. Wednesday night we picked up Anne and Sean (her boyfriend) and sarah in Queenstown where they had been ditching classes for the beginning of the week and we drove up to Glochecky and stayed at a hostel which we had major troubles finding in the dark. In the morning we woke up early and caught a bus to the Routeburn trail head. The Routeburn is one of the "Great Walks" of NZ ... read more

Much of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed around Queenstown, and there are many tours capitalizing on this. We were recommended one that included a jetboat ride - Dart River Safaris. The tour was really fun - it started with a bus ride to Glenorchy and lunch. On the 45 minute bus ride, a small boy of about 8 started talking with J and thought he was super cool. The rest of the trip he kept running up and telling J what he had just done. After lunch we rode an off road vehicle around to various LOTR locations. Then we hiked around an old forest and arrived at a jetboat dock. Our jetboat driver was really cool - he zipped the boat right next to large boulders and did 360 turns, splashing our ... read more

Jen was very surprised! Think because of the cancellations earlier in the week i didnt really think it was going to happen so i didnt have time to worry about it which was great!! Phils blog... The aircraft door slid open - below 9,000ft of pure cold air. We were high above a huge lake and river delta, surrounded by snow capped mountains. I was the first to jump. I'd felt only a little nervous while we geared up and boarded the cramped little plane only 15 minutes earlier. A quick glance down out of the hatch, and my human survival instinct momentarily took grip - I can't do this I said - I was sh!tting it! Yes you can, you'll be just fine, said Rob my tandem sky diver. I pushed my fears to one side quickly and I was ready. Nerves gone. I dropped my legs out of the plane, we jumped, and we plummetted! A quick spin upside down, and we faced down hurtling at 120mph towards ... read more

Taking a break from hectic Queenstown, Ian and I decided to go horse riding. The road to Glenorchy was amazing, right on the cliff edge with a beautiful relective lake below. The horses that the riding company own are actually film stars. They were in Lord of the Rings and used by the riders of Rohan. How lucky were we to be surrounded by famous horses! On the trip which was in a place called Paradise (very appropriately named) we actually got to trot through areas that were film locations for Lord of the Rings. We stopped by where Boromir dies after such a well fought battle and having heaps of arrows pierced into his body. We also rode through the forest where Galadriel lives, the part where she goes all scary looking with her bright ... read more

I was lucky enough to swing two whole days off both works this week so making the absolute most of my time off i decided to get some more adventures rolling on..... First stop....canyon swinging on the worlds highest swing. Turned out to be a great way to clear a hangover! Vital stats of the swing: a freefall of 60m/200ft down into the Shotover canyon then the ropes smoothly pendulum you into a giant 200m arc at 150kph....translated as a little scary but wicked fun! Having no choice about what jump style they were going to make me do i was first strapped into a garden chair and then teatered backwards on the edge of the platform until wooooaaaahhhhh my balance was tipped and off i went, phew what a rush! Sceond time, hand buzzing after ... read more

Tuesday morning awakes to find me still in Glenorchy. My original plan was to head to Queenstown early today, do the internet/blog and upload pictures gallor. And then watch NCAA basketball finals, live at 1PM!!!!! Well you all know that didn't happen. I was originally all stoked to be watching March Madness... and the opportunity to watch the finals. I watched the first 5 minutes of the LSU/UCLA game on Sunday and I realized I just didn't care. Its funny, I've tried in OZ, Philippines, and here in NZ to convince people how great March Madness is and that the NBA is shit. (I think I've succeeded on the 2nd part.) But since being here I've realized that March Madness is great because of the hype. If you aren't around to take part in it, then ... read more
