Leaving Christchurch Tomorrow morning I leave Christchurch after a wonderful stay in the "Garden City" and head west on the Tranz Alpine train towards the west coast. My experience in Christchurch was awesome and the bar has definitely been set very high for the rest of the trip. I will attempt to provide a quick recap of the past few days since we arrived. The flight to NZ went very well, even though it was bumpy and our seats were on the 75th and last row of a packed 747 for 12 hours. Between 2 meals, drifting in and out of sleep and 7 movie channels on my very own headrest screen, I managed to stay occupied. We arrived on the 10th and managed to skip over the 9th entirely. Friday Arrival day was full of ... read more

Cheers Mads og Andreas... read more

In NZ now. Its been a while since the last update as the costs of internet in Indonesia were massive. From KL we flew to Bali. It was an amazing Island. One of the most beautiful in Asai that we went to full of rice paddys and bright colours, with incredible funeral rituals and great carvings and culture. We also visited Lombok ( An ISland to the east ) While there the people are less freindly and I got into an argument with a taxi driver who pulled a dagger on me !! No worries thought as they are all talk !!We made our way slowly ( average travel time 20km per hr ) to some tropical Islands called the Gillis and spent two weeks sitting on the beach, eating fresh Tuna, snorkling and collecting shells. ... read more

Hello again! We arrived in Christchurch yesterday and spent the afternoon wandering around, checked out 2 small but very nice museums, and then walked around the botanical gardens. It's such a gorgeous little city, with this very cute little river (the Avon) winding it's way around. Today, we went on a tour of a sheep farm, which was very interesting. The sheep were so cute! Then we visited a winery and returned to the city. We just finished a 30 minute punt down the Avon, it was all quite civilized. Tomorrow, we take the much anticipated train trip to Greymouth. According to my guide book, it's one of the 5 best train trips in the world. Two things: I (Chris) participated in sheep shearing today. Very exciting indeed. Also, Villanova lost yesterday, much to my dismay! ... read more

Exactly 2 months ago, in early January, I boarded a plane and left a ton of work for my boss & colleagues to follow-up on. I was en route to my long-awaited, and much deserved 2-week-long vacation in a country touted as being one of the most beautiful in the world. Where else would you find the freshest of air, the purest and cleanest of rivers and lakes and magnificent views, but New Zealand? Two weeks was a long time to be away from office if you're in the advertising industry. But I've had it with work! Nothing - I mean nothing could make me change my mind. Not even if the boss put a gun to my head and made me choose between having a job or going on that holiday. I was desperate to ... read more

Denne her weekend har stået i ekstremsportens navn. Sammen med Julie, to englændere Rob og Alex, og Julies to flatmates Ed (NZ) og Steve (US) tog jeg på forlænget weekend til Queenstown, som ... read more

hey there folks, two blogs in one day wonders will never cease! So today is the day of celebration as the marc and claire team have finally been reunited! and frank of course. just to fill in the gaps....spent another day in kaikoura ended up staying in new hostel, called the dusky dolphin and it was the best hostel i've stayed in here - we had a hot pool sauna and heated swimming pool, all surrounded by very impressive mountains capped with snow. It's a hard life being a backpacker eh! Managed to spot some dolphins in the morning despite having failed to get on to a dolphin watching trip then spent all afternoon drinking beer in the hot tub celerating tomers birthday with whoever came to join us before cooking up a treat on the bbq....new ... read more

So the debate has finally ended! there IS a defference between chips and fries. Chips are thick and chunky...and according to Tom they are more healthy bc there is less serface area per potato area meaning less of the potato hits the fat so thus healthier...right. Fries are...also according to Tom...a sad excuss for chips hehe. no they are McDonalds style, you know skinny and less potato (my fav but that maybe becuase its the only place you can get real ketsup!) This one is for uncle mike....well i couldnt tell what way the toliets flush bc every toliet is this really wired like super power kind that you cant watch the water go down BUT in the shower you can notice...the water goes down counter clock-wise...i dont remember what way it goes back home but ... read more

So we finally made it to the south island. By some wierd Marc and Claire quirk we managed to end up in the south island a mere few days apart. Also unsuprisingly for us we also had a huge cock up as well. Mostly i hasten to add becasue Claire didn't send me any emails for ages and i had no idea where she was, it turned out that last Wednesday i caught the 8.30am ferry to Picton (south island port) from Wellington, and Claire managed to turn up in Wellington at Tony and Clare's house to 'find' me mid morning the smae day, only to find that i'd just sailed across. When we found out there was a mixture of laughing and shaking of the fists at the compuetr screen. Anyway we are both in ... read more
