Hi All We have now been in Perth since saturday afternoon and have enjoyed staying with Marjorie & Ken our Australian cousins. We have had a couple of River Cruises one was a wine tasting one up the Swan River which was great fun, the wineries'made a cool change to the 40C outside and needless to say the wine was good too! Today we took a trip on the river to Fremantle and met up with our cousin Jeanne the last time we saw her was when she stayed with us in London in 1973. Fremantle is famous for its Fish - and we sampled the local fish Barramundi & Chips at the well known harbour. We then had a tour around the Perth Beaches which went on for miles - white sands, sparkling blue sea ... read more

Hey guys! Time for a quick update methinks! We've been working very hard since we last spoke, we've both just finished jobs in a plant nursery, which involved general labouring (Ben) and weeding (me). Glamourous eh? We worked 7.30 - 3.30 Monday to Friday, which was pretty good (apart from the early mornings), because it meant we still had a lot of the day left when we got home. Even more of the day left, in fact, since daylight savings kicked in recently, to much debate and controversy here in Perth. Ya see, they've only had daylight savings for 3 years and it seems it takes a bit of getting used to. After an unadventful flight I arrived in Perth. Where I was picked up by Tracey and her sister. They took me back to their parents house for the night. It was great to see Anne and Brian again as we had met briefly before when they had stayed us in england. The next it was time to get every thing sorted for the appartment we all renting for the week in Scarborough. By the end of the day me and Tracey had everything sorted ready to pick up Mum and kelvin from the airport that evening. The next morning was big chill out and Aunty Barbra came round for Tea and cakes. In the afternoon after picking up Carl from the airport. We took a trip to Kings park for a quick look around before heading ... read more

16 October 2006. Spring has sprung, in WA. The wildflowers know it. It’s the only time of the year that they desperately seek the pollination of the birds bees and butterflies - that they have evolved so magnificently to attract - only to find them scared off by the incessant masses of sightseers. Lingering longer than usual to get just the right *snap*. Leaving many million of stamen unpollinated, barren and more inclined to decline. As if the ever growing kit-homes weren’t enough. There are 800 species of wildflower in the south west, only 2000 in the world. yet, the grapevines continue to be planted, grapes are stockpiled and, the good marketers get their share of the market while most of the wine growers and the jarrah rainforests struggle to get through yet another season. ... read more
