Day 61 Fremantle boat show is on this weekend so we went for a wander round this morning and dreamt about owning one of the boats on display. We also spent some time shopping in the E sheds which is full of quaint market stalls in an old storage shed at the docks. In the afternoon Tony and Oliver went to Sorrentto beach while Laura went to the shops at Hillarys harbour. Unfortunately Oliver got injured by the body board as the ocean was a bit rough today. In the evening we watched the sunset over the ocean at the Wild Fig restaurant where we enjoyed a lovely meal. 29/3 Day 62 As it was Sunday and we had an extra hour as the clocks went back this morning we leisurely had breakfast and got ready ... read more

Day 55 Perth We spent Sunday morning at Yanchep National Park which is a bushland park with a lake and filled with plenty of wildlife. A colony of protected koalas also live here in a natural habitat of eucalyptus trees. We enjoyed seeing turtles in the lake, a rare bitten bird and endangered black cockatoos. In the afternoon we chilled out and spent time in the pool again (Oliver should have been born a fish!). In the evening we enjoyed a family bbq with Jo and Simon and all the cousins at Sally and Phil's, another lovely house!. 23/3 Day 56 Perth Monday morning and we awake to rain, although the rain does not last long here and it soon brightened up enough for us to take the canoes out we had borrowed from Phil. Day 51 This morning we wake up and smell Tony cooking us breakfast, it is great to be in a house and we are being very well looked after by Aunty Rose and Tony. They live in an area North of Perth called Duncraig and only 5 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from the city. Tony and Rose took us on a scenic tour of the area starting with the sea which has some good waves for the surfers this morning. There was also a big life saving surfing event on up at the next beach which is called Scarborough Beach! We drove further into the city and had a walk round Kings Park which is the largest public park in the world. It provides fantastic views of the city and rivers below and ... read more

Hey everyone! Just an update on my whereabouts.... Im still in Perth. The weather is amazing. life is good. After weeks of looking for a job here i finally found one at a bar downtown. Its a British pub, Old Speckled Hen and "bangers and mash" included. Its been really good fun, and with my travel companion of the past couple weeks leaving its a good way to make new friends here in Perth. For those of you who do not know, my Mum and Kevin are coming down to Australia to visit! I am soooo excited. They will be here in 2 weeks and we have 2 mini road trips planned so see a little bit more of Western Australia while they are here. It will be an amazing adventure. I will write again soon. ... read more

Hey all! So, just to clear up the blooper on the last entry, i said that the crazy drive was into Sydney, but it was definitely the drive into Melbourne. So that is where i will take this one from.... Melbourne was completely different then Sydney. We noticed it right away. The best way to describe it to another Canadian would be similar to the difference between Toronto and Vancouver. Melbourne resembling the later. I found Sydney to be a lot like Vancouver in the cities location, lay out and coastal placement. But when i say Melbourne is more like my home city i am almost solely talking about the people. A younger more hip crowd, not appearing to be so career driven and professionally dressed. My first impression was that this city was going to ... read more

Firstly, I'm so terribly sorry about all the crappy photos in amongst the ok ones - my camera is fairly crap and I don't have time to delete all the bad ones so you'll just have to skip over the duds! I might eventually get around to labelling them all also but i'm afraid it's a matter of guessing what they are...Sorry!! As i said sorry i haven't updated in a while. In our last week in oz we've done a few things including inking ourselves(with beautiful dragonflies - the first exotic thing we set eyes on in Singapore - and no, in case you're wondering mum, it wasn't that spontaneuous - i've been designing it for quite some time now but found an artist here who was on the same wavelength as me:).We also went ... read more

I'm doing this backwards...i forgot to publish these photos...which are actually from before the aquarium. Last sunday we went to this fantastic doggy beach which is an especially designed beach to walk your pooch. Yet another marvel over here which is a perfectly normal thing for all who live here but a very unique experience for me...twas like doggy heaven! You'd swear ever dog had a smile on it's face. After that myself and reuben cycled to Hilary's Pier and enquired about scuba diving courses but after discovering that the shortest course is 5 days i've decided to leave it to Thailand. Then we went exploring and climbed the lighthouse and admired the view of the sea and thenstrolled and sunned ourselves...sure how bad! On monday we had our first day in the big smoke(and it ... read more
