We began our holiday this morning with an early start so that we could take the dogs for a nice long walk before leaving home. Good for them and good for us since we are going to be cooped up an an aeroplane for about 24 hours! After our walk we had our breakfast, did some last minute cleaning and finished off our packing. All we really had left to pack was our toiletries after showering and cleaning our teeth. Our house sitter, Eddie, arrived just before 10.00am and we went out for another quick walk just to reassure ourselves (and Eddie) that he was going to be OK to manage the two dogs on his own. We introduced him to the correction chain for Finbar - just to help to remind him not to pull ... read more

This morning we were up and about the same time as we would have been to go to work so that we could take the dogs for a long walk and finish off the house cleaning to make it neat and tidy for Eddie the house sitter. Not to worry, the day of travel is always a busy one and the relaxation only starts when we reach our destination!! Eddie arrived right on time at noon to meet the dogs, get a rundown on the house and appliances and have a bit of lunch with us before driving us to the airport. He had ridden his bike from Carnegie so, with it being such a warm day, he was pretty hot and sweaty when he arrived!! Nothing a cold glass of water couldn't fix. But we ... read more

The whole family was incredibly excited to leave Melbourne and begin our long-planned vacation to Europe. Our first activity was a 14 hour flight to Dubai. Leaving MEL at 10:25pm we were due to land in Dubai at around 6:30 in the morning. This would be a jet-lag challenge for Jake, Nick and Emily who had never travelled outside of Australia. The flight was smooth and while we did not get much sleep, everyone felt reasonably good when we landed. To top it off the flight was an hour early, touching down at 5:25am - luckily our travel agent had organised an early check-in for us! Dubai airport is amazing, It is enormous and very beautiful. You can quickly tell that there is a lot of money in the UAE. At 5:30am, the airport is quiet ... read more

Een ... read more
