On a quitté Jervis Bay tôt, 8h15, notre record à date.

Day 24 - Mallacoota is one of the best kept secrets of Victoria. What a fabulous place. We could spend alot longer than two days here and probably would still be getting told about things we should have done! We don't really understand why the place isn't constantly packed solid and can only assume it's because it's not 'just off the highway' like other places. Because the Information Shed doesn't open until 10am we decide to go for a walk out to the 'entrance' and pack a picnic just in case it turns into a really long walk! The sun is already shining, the birds are singing and the ocean is ready for action! We walk out to the Bastion Point lookout where we meet 'lone walker man' from yesterday's pictures and a lovely lady walking ... read more

Day 23 - Lakes Entrance to Mallacoota - 209 kms - 2 hr 30 mins (incl fuel stop) We were moving on today so needed to get up and get going! 10am seems to be the time that most campsites want you off the pitch so we grab a shower, skip breakfast and get on with the packing up procedure. The pop up roof on the caravan needs to come down and the legs need winding up. The water hose and the power leads need to be gathered up and then the roof fixed down and the door locked up. We’ve got into the habit of taking the table apart as it’s not fixed to the floor and the TV now lives in the recycle box so it doesn’t fall off the kitchen unit! It’s just ... read more

On Tuesday we arrived in Mallacoota late in the afternoon and stayed at Shady Gully Caravan Park. The next day we drove into the eastern section of Croajingolong National Park via the back way and the more adventurous Miners Track. The track was steep in parts and had a rocky creek crossing (Betka Creek). The water was only shallow but there were a few boulders to navigate over and we ended up incurring some minor damage to one of the sidesteps. But it was good fun and now at least the car has been christened properly! We drove to Shipwreck Creek and did the coastal walk to Seal Creek, with the beach at the end having some interesting patterned rocks/pebbles. We left the park via the main access track (2WD) back to Mallacoota and the caravan ... read more
