A coolish morning ( relatively speaking) . The staff have jumpers on. We had breakfast, paid our drinks tab and then watched Gary put out feed for the birds. 4 Brolgas came in, a whistling kite and a kingfisher. We said our goodbyes and set off. Our first stop was Musgrave. the site of an Old Telegraph Station. The only one that has been preserved. Gravel road to Coen - good condition as it had just been graded. Many sections are sealed. We went over the Great Dividing range, 3620 kms long. We passed some dams that had been built by the Roads Dept to be used for grading and ultimately bitumen. Stopped at Coen for morning tea and visited the local museum. 3G available so caught up on news. Archer roadhouse built in 1983 in ... read more

A drive from Cairns up to stay in Port Douglas ,skirting the mountains on one side and sea on the other was spectacular . With the Australian Government banning International travel and States closing their borders, due to Covid 19, it has been a difficult year, wishing I could get out and about again on the trails. I decided therefore to do some blogs on local tracks which I use, around my home base in Cairns. These are tracks and trails which I train on, but if you are ever in Far North Queensland, would be good to do. The first I chose, is a track to Glacier Rock, on the Douglas Track. You start at the Stoney Creek car park and follow the well worn track through a rainforest. The track goes over the Kuranda Railway line and the 108 steps over the railway bridge, is the toughest part of the hike. Elevation gain is about 440 metres, so ... read more

The plan for this week was to get away somewhere but be close enough for my girls night in Brisbane (to see Queen) on Thursday, and to attend the Caravan & Camping show at Redcliffe on the weekend. We left Grafton early on Monday morning (10/02) and headed north to our first stop - Ballina RV Centre. The ESC (electronic stability control) had stopped working last trip and was still showing a red indicator (not working properly). After a couple of hours of trial and error it was finally working and we were good to go. Then there was a traffic accident between Yelgun and Chinderah which caused a detour off the motorway up the Tweed Valley Way, and then another accident on the Gold Coast which caused bumper to bumper traffic on the motorway for ... read more

So I was planning a tour in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and came while planning and looking for the tours I came across a tour organised by Urbane Manfor the men's fashion stores across the cities. I found it interesting so I booked the tour. Here I was in the middle of some very fashion-conscious men who are willing to spend hundreds of dollars in the stores. I am not sure if I was ready to spend that much money but I did enjoy the whole tour. Fashion stores especially the big stores in Australia are worth visiting. Here is one of my favourite brand for men's clothes, accessories and products called ZARA. I visited Zara Wintergarden store which is absolutely beautiful as you can see in the image. I also visited Luis Vitton and superstores ... read more

Leaving Adelaide, we flew straight to Cairns. Along with Townsville, Cairns is one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef. When Jennie and I were here in 2005 we went to Townsville and took a dive boat boat out 200 miles into the Coral Sea for a week, but we never actually saw the GBR. For this trip, we decided to headquarter in Cairns, where the reef is much closer to the shore. Our hotel was right on the waterfront. Initially, it appeared that there was a big harbor outside our door, but when the tide went out it became apparent that it was actually just a large mud flat with sprouting mangrove seedlings. The harbor was at the end of the city, where there was a large mixed use development that appeared to be ... read more
