"The Boulders" at Babinda is not far from Bramston Beach and is a beautiful place to visit. Our photos and video just don't do it justice. We thought about having a swim in the swimming hole untill we felt the water. It is very very cold but I'm sure in summer it would be perfect. A little rainforest walk takes you to some viewing spots where the crystal clear water rushes through huge boulders which have been smoothed over time. Visited Bramston beach and had lunch in the park. Very quiet little place almost nobody else there. Would have liked to camp at Babinda and will put it on the list for things to do again...without the doggy.... read more

The journey from Alice Springs north would be our last on the Stuart highway. We had spent a good part of the last 2 months travelling to and from destinations close to this major road and the time to head east had arrived. We spent our last night in the NT at the devils Marbles climbing on and around the massive granite boulders that appear to balance so precariously. With much excitement we crossed the boarder into Queensland. Jack wondered aloud where the castles were and what the Queens name was! Clearly another educational opportunity. Lawn Hill National Park was our first destination in QLD and after traversing some pretty bad roads we arrived. Day 37 We got off to an early start today, we were all packed and on the road by 8:30, way to go group!! Better than my 9am guess. We had about 300 or so km to get under our belt today and that left us with a slightly tight time limit. First on our list for the day was Wallaman Falls national park with a 280 meter waterfall. Let me tell you the views were stunning, it was sunny and the falls had good flow. It was about a 4km round hike to the bottom and back up.
