Dear followers, It's been a long time before, I placed an update. But these on going weeks are currently one of my busiest. The previous week started off with a birthday of one off my colleagues, the spirit in the company, "alpha dot net Australia", is very nice. We brought out a toast on all the good updates inside the company with some champagne and had a delicious cheese cake for the birthday. But life is not only roses and sunshine. I requested 2 days off at work, to be fresh for executing a big step in a project at work. These days also gave me the opportunity, to arrange my stuff. My room began to look a little messy and my shirts needed another cleaning. I started off my cleaning marathon, bought some food, drinks. ... read more

Day 98 It’s really hard to believe that I have been here for 98 days! Insane! It has gone by so fast too, however, I am excited to go home too. Things haven’t been too eventful lately, jut going out on the weekends and homework during the week. We did go to the Sydney Aquarium last Sunday which was nice. I am really excited for the near future though because we are going to the Whitsunday Islands to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef, camp on the beach, kayak and sun bathe. Even more exciting than that is New Zealand! I will be doing a 13 day tour to both islands and then returning back to Sydney and then flying home. I am pretty much counting down the days to these trips because school is lame! ... read more

Day 20 So yesterday was Mardi Gras (gay and lesbian) which was amazing! First, Jenna and I went out to the mall to find something to wear. We tried on TONS of stuff but nothing was fitting in the bust area so I asked the girl who worked there and she was like yeah, Australians are pretty flat chested…. Awesome… I think I’m going to have a hard time finding clothes here. Well I finally found a $5 top that I was sure I wasn’t going to wear (but ended up wearing it anyways) and Jenna found some cute pink tights. So we got ready and hung out at the apt for a while. Our roommates who don’t speak a lot of English even came down and hung out! Then, we took the bus downtown and ... read more

Day 6 Today I had orientation for the school…lame.. I mean it sucks anyways and then it was for international students. Really lame… First off like 70% were US. I did not come to Australia to meet americans… also a lot of east coast attitude and cliques… I hope when classes start I can meet new friendly people and not just cliquey, snoddy americans… I have meet some cool people, don’t get me wrong, but the overall feel was judgmental and lame. Yesturday I had a really good day because Emily, Tyler, the Swede and I went to Bondi beach and out to a local bar. That was a lot of fun and it was a better taste of the local culture. I hope to meet more locals and less rich, snoddy americans when I travel ... read more

Hey, I arrived in Sydney yesterday and I'm staying near Bondi beach for a few days. The beach is really beautiful and Mary and I walked on a trail that goes along the beach and then up on high bluffs with good views. I went to the school today to use the internet there and hopefully find somewhere to live. -megan... read more

The much anticipated arrival in Sydney After waking up early at the gorgeous downtown Melbourne hotel where we were staying I enjoyed a hot breakfast in the hotel’s fancy restaurant. I had fruit salad, Aussie bacon (undercooked so it was really more like ham), sausage, a poached egg, and some apple juice. The interesting foods served for breakfast that I was not adventurous enough to try were baked beans, scrambled eggs and velveeta, roasted tomatoes, peeled plums, and of course vegemite. After breakfast we all dragged all of ourselves and our luggage onto the bus to go to the Melbourne airport. The time of orientation was officially over the students headed off to UQ headed off to Brisbane. At the airport we had to line all of our checked luggage up in rows of two ... read more
