In an atypical example of masterous forward planning, I've arranged a bit of holiday just when the World Cup is on. Trouble is, both England and the Aussies aren't up to much, so to escape the misery, I took a trip up to the Northern Beaches. CityRail have just introduced new tickets which give you unlimited travel on trains, buses and ferries - dead handy when you want to go all the way up to Palm Beach. From Wynyard it's about an hour on the L90, which, with the rain tipping down, did look like being a bit of a mistake. Luckily, things had calmed down by the time we got to Mosman and by the time I hit the beach the weather was as perfect as you could wish for. Anyone who watches Home and ... read more
This is going to be a quick one; I'm running out of internet!! Yesterday was dull, the weather was horrible so I just went grocery shopping and to the wildlife centre. Like the aquarium, they showed what kind of animals can be found in Australia - most of them are some of the most poisonous animals in the entire world, great. There were many many rooms simply dedicated to a variety of different snakes and spiders. It wasn't the same kind of awe that struck me when I saw the seahorses that live in Sydney Harbour!! One of the main attractions of this wildlife centre is one of the largest crocodiles in captivity. I saw it, and thought it was one hell of a big crocodile. Naturally all the Australians surrounding me thought it wasn't a ... read more
A Long Way to Home & Away
Published: August 9th 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Palm BeachWith a head stuffed full of cold and a nose that refused to stop running, I had pretty much decided to not bother going out today, even though it's my last day in Sydney. Then, at around 11.00 am, my nan and Jeanie announced they were going for a walk from Manly to Shelley Beach and I was surprised to find I was actually starting to feel a little better by now and said I would join them. I popped on my trainers and headed out into the bright winter sunshine. My uncle Kev had said that if I was back by 1pm, he could give me a lift to the city so that I could exchange one of the electical items I had bought for Glynn the other day that had turned out to be ... read more
Closer Each Day...Home And Away!!
Published: March 1st 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Palm BeachI had a really bizarre dream last night about Buffy the Vampire Slayer...don't ask!! My fascination with Buffy worries me. I somehow got out of bed at nine and still managed to catch the twenty to ten L90 bus to Palm Beach...the home of Summer Bay and Home and Away!! The beach was lovely, really sandy as it goes, probably the sandiest I have ever walked on in my life...but it was hard work trudging through it on my way up to the Surf Club. I am not really a Home and away fanatic but just being on the set was awesome enough for me so I celebrated this achievement with a Double Choc Chip Cornetto!! Avalon, the next beach down looked gorgeous too with spectacular scenery...I may return there again to walk the coastline before ... read more

Published: December 1st 2008Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Palm BeachAnyone who is a fan of Home and Away will obviously know Summer Bay! We took a bus from Manly up to Palm Beach to go in search of the cast from H&A, well i did anyway!! We got off the bus at the last stop and quickly found out where we had to head to see the Surf Club. We were getting closer and closer and i was so excited! I don't ask for a lot in life, all i wanted was to see Alf Stewart and did i? No, i did not! Didn't see anyone actually! There was a little kiosk serving cold drinks and before the old guy could even ask what i would like i blurted out 'where is Alf Stewart' and to my horror his reply was 'oh he is in ... read more

Home & Away - Palm Beach. Where's Sally?
Published: April 17th 2008Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Palm BeachBusted We awoke on Sunday following our Blue Mountains excursion with numb joints all round. Settling into (the couch) our new flat wasn't too much of an option as we had things to buy, so with much grumbling we headed into town. We went around our usual shopping places and nothing of note really happened until I decided to be lazy and get the bus from Town Hall to Railway Square. I'd been purchasing student bus passes, despite the fact I knew that it was only NSW students who were eligible for this (it's still not clearly outlined anywhere though). Although I have my fake International Student Card from Bangkok, it's only some places in Sydney that accept it as student ID and I thought this inconsistancy was silly, so I deemed myself a student for ... read more
