As I wrote, this storm was short lived. Because my claims were commercial, meaning businesses, I had lots of paper work-after inspections. I told my supervisor that we would be leaving the area on Sunday. After finishing up our last inspection we met up with a cousin of a friend. We were introduced via Facebook but had never met in person. That was really fun to meet in person. In the meantime, it became possible for our 9-year-old granddaughter, Zaya to join us. Our kids arranged a non-stop plane ride and we found ourselves a granddaughter at Raleigh-Durham Airport. We drove away from our campsite on Sunday, ready for a long trip home. Dale and I had stops we wanted to make, but, since Zaya was joining us, we changed our itinerary a bit. First stop, ... read more

Wrightsville is a very pictoresque and small town in the ICW. Its pretty much a mandatory stop to fuel up, have a great dinner at the local restaurant and for the crew to recharge batteries after a long day.... read more

We have a little less than 24 hours before we head to Athens and begin our trip! I'm trying so hard to only take a carry on but had no idea what a challenge it would be. It looks like I'll have one last purge before the bag is closed. Packing for a fall trip on a cruise is tough. I'll miss this little paradise but the adventure will create memories for a lifetime. Next entry will be from Greece!... read more

Gearing up for my mom's birthday trip starting in Athens and cruising to Rome at the end of October. Starting to get the essentials with the goal of taking one carry on bag; Rick Steves' style. Thanks to my friend Pete I have found the perfect travel shoe. This will take the place of flip flops, hiking shoes and sneakers. Plus, if it rains, no worries. Thanks, Pete!... read more

As a graduation gift for Holly her parents rented us a house at Wrightsville Beach for a week. We had a ton of people come throughout the week and two of my friends from Atlanta even drove up to visit. We had a great week with some amazing seafood, swimming, tanning, and even took a few day trips. One of our day trips was a boat ride to Masonboro Island. It was like a private beach where we got to hang out and have lunch for the day. It was such a relaxing week chilling on the beach and unwinding with friends. We'd usually spend most of the day at the beach and then come back to the house to watch movies or play games. A lot of my close friends were there so it was ... read more

High Tide is at 10:00 am this Sunday morning, so after several cups of coffee, I pack my cooler, grab my hat and head out to the marina. The early boats get the best spot at Mason's Inlet-especially on this holiday weekend. The Deep End is ready to go and our timing is perfect to hit the ICWW and head out. Our first stop is at Queen's Point, an incredibly beautiful tidal creek off the ICWW. After a quick pit stop at Queen's Point to drop off a buddy, we're headed into Mason's. Entering into the inlet, we are looking for the Pontoon boat my son-in-law is trying to sell for Marine Warehouse and what better advertising than cruising it to Mason's. We spot the "big pig" and quickly slide beside it to tie up. Marina ... read more
