I got to sleep in again today! Yum. Sarah and I made lunch, then she had to teach, which meant I had to work. By “work” I mean actually get things done for fall tour- make phone calls, send emails, detail things. Not super fun, but definitely necessary. After school, I hung out with some of the kids. We were teaching Auntie Angela words in Luganda, and I learned a few new ones myself. Joshua B, one of the smallest, who has also decided to attach himself to me, hung around all afternoon. He and Godfrey, another of the littlest decided they should have me hold them up as they hang from my arms- both at once! This went right along with the conversation of all day, all week actually. “They’re sisters. They’re twins. They’re not ... read more

Today was great- sort of hit-and-miss, as Sarah put it, but I surely enjoyed it. Slept in, a little longer than planned, but good, then Sarah, Liz, Angela and I headed into town. We ran errands and things, and went to lunch (Sarah's mom sent us gift cards!) and to see Mamma Mia! If you haven't yet, be sure to! We laughed and danced and sang through the whole thing! More errands and things, dinner. During this time, we went to a department store and tried on all sorts of fun combinations of odd clothing. When we got back to the house, we watched the Olympics for a bit, then headed for bed. A picture is worth 1000 words, so I'll leave you with a few of them.... read more

So, most of you probably don’t know, but I’m in North Carolina again! What? You ask. Already? Don’t worry, I’m not on tour yet. BUT, I did fly across the country to visit my dear friend Auntie Sarah! I flew in yesterday, on 3 flights- one to Oakland, one to Nashville, and one to Raleigh/Durham. The first flight, I sat next to an Air Force Pilot, and we had a nice little 2-hour chat. On the second, I sat between a mother and her college-aged son, and we all slept. Then I started reading, and read almost an entire book! The woman and I talked about the last 10 minutes or so of the flight, then we all changed seats even though we were staying on the same plane. I was all-too-eager to be done flying ... read more

It was colder than ten cold things in our room last night! I woke up several times to roll over and try to get warm. I was seriously considering snuggling with Sarah, who was very close to me. It was COLD! Recently, my alarm clock decided to not turn back on if I hit the snooze button. When I woke up to shower, I fell back asleep for a bit, then showered. Yes, I burned my skin off trying to get warm, then crawled back into bed to warm up more, and fell back asleep, for a few hours. Sarah, Beth and I went to town and played at the bookstore. I’m almost done with my book, so buying a new one was greatly exciting. Then we got Anne, returned a van, ran errands, went to ... read more

Easter. Woohoo! We got up really early, loaded the bus and headed into town. One of the families from the church had all of us over for breakfast and an Easter egg hunt. Oh my goodness! The kids were going crazy! And they rarely have candy, so it was an extra special treat. Then we headed off to church. The church that sponsors the house we live in is called King’s Park International Church, or KPIC. We went, and the kids were to do one number, so we had sound check and all that jazz. The kids sang well, and the rest of the service was pretty good, but I am a firm believer that no church service should go over 2 hours! Wow it was long. But it was cool because Anne and Jessica both ... read more

This morning came way too early. When we woke up, Sarah, before even saying good morning, said, “I call the first nap.” We made baked oatmeal for breakfast, which was amazing, but there were things I didn’t know how to do, as I’d never really made food for only 40. There’s a gap in the number I’ve cooked for between like 20 and 300. Oh well. It turned out fine. (I changed the recipe a little, don’t tell!) We went straight into bag check. This means all the kids get to pick out new clothes if they need them, out of bins of clothes. Man were they excited! And they were wearing some funny things! The boys discovered sweater-vests. Ha! During this, I started cleaning the kitchen. (We have to clean the entire house today to ... read more

Sort of slept in… Anne and Jessica came to pick us up to enjoy our day off. So, whenever Ryan is around, he brings me presents. Yesterday’s present was a Swear Box. Yep. That means people have to give me money if they swear (this mostly applies to Anne.) After settling on the words that count, mostly described as “words I don’t say,” we settled the price. Regular days, $.25 per word. Show days, applying to local crew as well, $.25 per word. But, on show days, once the kids are in the building, the price doubles. So, today I made $1.75 in just the afternoon! What a fun game! All of us loaded the cars to go into town. First, we went to the mall. Kyle and I had a Mac Store date! We got ... read more

I leave for my trip to Hawaii on Sunday morning - 7:45 to be exact. I haven't flown in several years and never by myself, so i'm a little apprehensive. But i've done my research as far as the important details are concerned - i have a window seat the whole way, they're serving lunch, and they're playing "Walk The Line". I think i'll be okay. :) I decided to keep an online journal so i can keep everybody back home updated and post pictures every now and then.. I think it will automatically e-mail you everytime i update, so if you want to get off the list... umm, i have no idea how to do it, but i'm almost certain you can ;) I'm gonna miss you all soooo much and I want to hear ... read more
