Sunday: Went for a hike along 6 mile creek to a small waterfall. I say small but it would probably be a main attraction and large waterfall in any other region :) It was pretty warm and the water was very appealing. Unfortunately I didn't remember until today that I got rid of my water sandals in Miami back in March due to being super uncomfortable... and I never replaced them. Copper also is not a water dog. I still need to test if he will swim if I'm in the water. He won't go in on his own, or to chase another dog even. He did a little bit of swimming back in Florida but did not seem to enjoy it. Really missing some water sandals to wade in the creek and cool off- such ... read more

From Mashed: America loves its hot dogs. If you've ever spent time at a ballpark, attended a Fourth of July picnic, or watched Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, you can attest to this fact. If not, here are some pretty convincing numbers. According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans purchased $3 billion worth of wieners in 2018, alone. During the summer, this nation will devour roughly 7 billion hot dogs. And, on the Fourth of July, revelers will nosh on 150 million of them, which equates to enough hot dogs to form a line all the way from "DC to LA more than five times." That is a sizeable heap of hot dogs. In 2019, url=https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/06/17/july-4th-hot-dog-and-hamburger-consumption-by-state/39580323/USA Today offered that the state with the highest "estimated hot dogs eaten per capita annually" was West ... read more

Sunday: A day to explore Cornell University! Cornell is located in Ithaca up on the hill from the downtown area. I've read it described as being slightly separated but still very culturally integrated in the local community. Along with just being a beuaitful campus to drive through with gorgeous buildings they have a lot of land devoted to wild life. We explored the botanical gardens which are huge- almost 20 miles of trail. We also went to the lab of ornithology which also has a really awesome website with live web cams set up for anyone not in New York. Definitely a place worth visiting for the natural landscape alone. Unlike Saturday night our play Sunday afternoon was not canceled. huzzah! The first half of the play was really awesome with one character setting out on ... read more

Are you still there? We hope so. We are hoping that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. Is it true, is it?? ❤️❤️ We’ve been pretty sluggish in writing these blogs so there’s a lot to catch you up on. Nothing super terribly exciting so don’t get all hipped up. No need to get in your comfy chair and line up your preferred drinks. This will be easy reading cause we are living the easy life during this delightful summertime. ?? Summertime… and the livin' is easy! Fish are jumpin', And the cotton is high?? I love singing….just wish I could. Our immediate routine, once we returned, was to go to funerals and dentists…..neither of which was something we looked forward to. My good friend, Mary Kay, that I had morning coffee with for all the ... read more

Sunday-Tuesday were spent working and doing pretty much nothing. I knew the rest of the week was going to be full of activities so it was time to rest a little bit and get caught up on all kinds of annoying tasks that come with being an adult and full time traveling. Ew. I also worked on getting myself caught up on some recent movies and tv shows :) Wednesday: My mom arrived late in the evening for a week long visit :) Thursday: Started the day off with doing the Ithaca highlights. Started at Ithaca Falls- the largest waterfall in the region and the most accessible since you don't need to hike at all to see it. Of course no day would be complete without a quick stop at the Ithaca dog park- surprisingly busy ... read more

Sunday: Started my time in New York off by hiking a portion of the finger lakes trail. The entire trail runs 580 miles end to end but including the entire network is 950 miles all in New York. Of course New York State isn't that wide but the trail is very wiggly. Did a 7 mile hike which was gorgeous and forested. Lots of good scenery and only passed 2 other hikers the entire way! Even on a Sunday afternoon and 75* I thought more people would be outside. What's odd is getting to multiple sections where the forest is clear cut for electrical work. It's very drastic and suddenly sunny- quite the contrast to being in the shaded forest. Monday: Downtown Ithaca is super cute! Though a lot of shops are closed on Mondays. There ... read more

So true! Before we left Tropical Palms on May 20th, we had our final coffee clatch. The numbers have dwindled significantly. Art, Theresa, Lou, Lulu, Cory and I gathered on Sam and Sandy’s site for our final beverage. Because Cory had taken down our canopy & TOSSED IT, we had to seek shade elsewhere. We savored each sip and each moment we could spend together. Months will pass before we do this again. We find the older you get, the faster time flies so we will resume our morning gatherings quicker than we think. Hooray! While you are still in the mindset of being at Tropical Palms, let’s review some of our goings on while we were still there. You know you want to so please, no whining. Hello again! I know it has been a long time since putting up any posting on the blog. As we are currently pretty much packed and checking off our “to do list” before heading back to Tsamaya this coming Monday, decided it was worthwhile checking in to see if I even remember how to put up a post with photos. I’m actually glad I am trying it as the software I typically used to make the collages, stated there was an update, so unfortunately, I clicked on it today and not even the basic things I used to be able to do work. Oh well, it should have made an improvement, but in this case it didn’t. Did some research and found another software to use so trying it out before we leave. The last I ... read more

I was up early again and headed out to another spot I like in Brooklyn for some more pictures back towards Lower Manhattan, where there are the remains of an old wooden pier in the foreground. It is obviously a popular spot as there were some other photographers there with me. I headed back to the hotel and, unlike after the earlier visit to Brooklyn, the trains were still quiet. It is Easter Sunday and it seems to be the one day (that I know of at least - I've not been here for Thanksgiving or Christmas) that "the city that never sleeps" partially sleeps. The Easter Sunday highlight is the Easter Bonnet Parade from St Patrick's Cathedral. We were not completely sure to expect as parade to us is a line of themed floats moving ... read more

I was, again, awake extremely early, but I couldn't face heading anywhere too far away, so I just popped out to the nearby Times Square for some early morning photographs . It's surprisingly difficult to get decent pictures of, given how bright the screens are. I gave it up as a bad job once I had been asked for money once too many times. Given the time in the morning, it was surprisingly busy. My daughter is a Starbucks fan so we went there for coffees and then (sadly) to McDonalds for some breakfast. The lady supervising the seating area was not impressed when we tried to get past with our Starbucks coffees. We then walked along Park Lane to look around some shops, including a browse in Tiffany's (I was justifiably concerned) and the very ... read more
