Been thinking of all of you....wondering what this wonderful summer season has you doing. It's my favorite time of the year: warm weather, lush, green surroundings, gorgeous, blooming flowers and a chance to feel good & energetic. Yahoo for summer! In case you were wondering what we have been up to, I thought I'd give you an update...whether you want it or not...sassy mouth! Even though summer sounds marvelous, our summertime activities have mostly revolved around our motor home. Not for fun ...rats....it's only been for pricey repair work. Ugh! Remember our return trip "from Hell" when we left Florida? We certainly haven't forgotten it (Eeeck) even though it is a thing of the past.....it remains emblazoned in our minds forever. We knew we had to take the big, old (2008) buggy for some work. First, ... read more

Traffic getting out of town was tough. A normal drive to Niagara on the Lake should take about 1 1/2 took us almost 3. Smooth acceptance into the US and we made it as far as Erie PA. Too dark for pictures (duh). Tomorrow going to get as far south as wecan to get away from these stupid temperatures. Can't wait.... read more

California boasts no less than 12 museums devoted to the automobile in all its different aspects. On Wednesday we drove up to Sylmar north of Los Angeles to the Nethercutt Museum founded by the makers of Merle Norman Cosmetics. The museum featured vintage Rolls Royces, Talbot-Lagos, Packards, Pierce Arrows and many other different kinds of cars from the early 1900’s, 20’s and 30’s. This is an exceptional collection and worth a visit- and it’s free admission. We then drove to just outside Pomona to the National Hot Road Museum a real contrast from the Nethercutt. This museum featured vehicles developed and customized post WW11 by de-mobbed soldiers looking for serious excitement. The museum featured racing cars from the 40’s and chronicled the development of the SoCal (Southern California) car culture. The next day it was time ... read more

The day has arrived and it is time for me to make my way to Buffalo to catch my flight. I booked my flight through Travelocity and it was only $580 but to get it this cheap my flights were a bit round about. I would fly from Buffalo to Philadelphia and than to Manchester, England. On the way home I would fly out of Glasgow and than to Philadelphia before arriving in Toronto. This made it tricky because I could not drive myself to the airport. After going through various options I opted for a Greyhound bus from Mississauga to Buffalo because it was $16. Greyhound bus was comfortable and I mostly slept and listen to music until we reached the USA border. I have crossed the border often enough that I can handle myself ... read more

Howdy, Howdy! I've missed all of you since our time together in Brimfield so thought I'd drop by to say "Howdy". Hope your summer is progressing nicely and you are enjoying each day. We've had plenty of rain this month so really appreciate it when ol' Mr. Sun decides to spend the day. Everything is lush and green and bountiful but enough is enough. Bring on the "rays"! We have stayed busy since Brimfield. Of course, emptying our trailer is a big job and Cory did it all alone. I don't think we are having as much fun as we used to with this hobby of ours. We used our empty trailer to get a new mattress for our upstairs bedroom which Nate (our Mennonite contractor) remodeled while we were in Florida. We found out that ... read more

After Chicago, we headed for Michigan to see Richard and Shannan, and their baby boy Evan. We had a nice time there, and did visit-y things – went out for dinner, met Richard’s parents, etc – but really nothing touristy. From there, we went to Indiana to visit some other friends that I’d known from high school days. There, we also did visit-y things – went for dinner, etc. etc. Again, nothing touristy. In each state we were in, I tried to buy a postcard for my scrapbook. (This was before the days when on-line photobooks were convenient ~ but not THAT long ago!! Don’t get sassy!) So, as we were leaving Indiana, and headed for Ohio, I suddenly realized I had no postcard, so we pulled over at the first available gas station. I ran ... read more

Day 5- arrival into buffalo. Due to our bus arriving in Buffalo at 5 in the morning we went in search of a McDonalds/Starbucks to try and find wifi to see where we were and what there was to do. Considering we were in the town centre and every other street corner had a McDonalds or Starbucks it was very irritating to find buffalo had a distinct lack of them. We were both pretty tired from the 12hr bus journey, pretty hungry and cold getting more and more frustration with lack of food and wifi. Adding to this we couldn't get hold of our contact till working hours as we only had the work number. Long story short, our contact was doing business on the west coast so with this in mind and not booking a ... read more
