Hello all, Today was another enjoyable day, for sure. We started out with a walk along the rest of the Freedom Trail, which included visiting the church where Paul Revere worshiped as well as Old North Church where the famous "one if by land, two if by sea" lanterns were hung. We have been fortunate to meet some very friendly people here in Boston who have been eager to help us understand this city's great history. We also visited the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) and enjoyed a tour by a very nice woman who surely has the best job in the Navy. It's a good thing that most of us are not very tall; the ceilings on the ship were . . . shortish. Keaton really had to watch out! After the boat, we made our ... read more

And I love it (oh, are you surprised?). Cape Cod as a local ยท Monday, May 21 We rolled into Cape Cod with relative ease, only having Providence rush hour traffic to deal with. We then checked into our hotel in West Yarmouth and proceeded to take our much needed showers. Once cleansed we set off in search of food and found this place called Molly's Restaurant & Pub a few miles north of us. It was really cool. We walked in and there weren't many people th... read more

Hello! Today was a great day! We started off with a walk down the Freedom Trail, which takes you to various old historical sites throughout old Boston. We saw a place where the Declaration of Independence was read publicly in July of 1776, Boston Commons, the graves of John Hancock as well as Ben Franklin's parents, and Faneuil Hall, an old marketplace and meeting hall. It's amazing to actually SEE all of these places. Next we went to the New England Aquarium, which is oh so cool! They've got penguins, sharks, tropical fish, seals, and a whole host of previously unknown animals. The penguins were particularly engaging with their diving antics and eating habits. Overall, this has been a great trip so far. Your students have been fabulous! We really appreciate their trustworthiness and good attitudes. ... read more

Hello parents! We just wanted to let you know that we got here last night without any hiccups and are doing well. We caught all of our flights and our hostel is not the Hilton but definitely livable. The kids have clearly got a little bit of cheap-o traveling orientation to do; no guys, we are NOT making your lunches for you! As we flew in the sun was starting to go down, and we got our first glimpse of this beautiful city. We were met with green trees and very blue waters. I'm hoping that the kids are more excited to see the city than to stay up late in the hostel --- here's hoping! Let us know if you have any questions. For emergencies, you may call Stephanie's cell phone at 801.669.0124. We'll keep ... read more

New England Islands and the Cape PierceThe ferry from Orient Point, Long Island came into port in New London, CT along side a huge cruise ship. I guess it was a big deal for the town and they put on a historical artillery demonstration at old Fort Trumbull south of town. Many of the passengers filled in the down town historical district all afternoon. This old city was set on the side of a hill next to the mouth of the Thames river. It was full of cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and a collection of old stone churches with towering tall steeples. I toured through the old streets myself riding along some of the old cobblestone streets and up and down the steep hillside. I stopped in at a bike shop to ask about info ... read more

We decided to rent a car with the "Never Lost" GPS system, and I'm very glad we did. After we left the airport we headed to Lexington/Concord area. "Little Miss Never-Lost" took us through the Ted Williams Tunnel to the MIT and Harvard area. it probably wasn't the quickest way to get to where we were going, but we did get to Harvard which was not on our list of things to do. We made it to Lexington. The first thing I noticed is it wasn't really what I was expecting at all. I don't know why, but I thought it would be un-altered battlefield even though it really makes no sense that it would be. Anyway, we took a tour of Buckman Tavern and walked through a grave yard near the Lexington Green. After that ... read more

The latest news... So I'm too lazy to look back and see what I wrote last, but I don't believe I mentioned that after finding the sublettor, Courtney, my current roommate, informed me that she was moving out. This, as I am sure you can imagine, increased the stress level considerably, and I was really worried for a bit. But, as it turns out, Courtney has decided to stay till August when I get back, and the sublettor, Sarah, will stay on in the fall--so my sublettor will be my new roomie! Yay!! I'm super excited as she seems very nice and also shares my love for the feline species (=^.^=) Hehe! She has a cat of her own who she'll be bringing into the apartment, so I'm sure there will be some kitty drama ... read more

I have decided that a travel blog is the way to go to keep everyone up to date on my adventures. I haven't actually gone anywhere yet but I decided to start my blog today. For those of you who don't know, here is the back story: I am going to Italy for 4 weeks. I will be taking a class through Loyola University in Rome for two weeks and then traveling throughout Italy for two more weeks. I have wanted to go to Italy for as long as I can remember and when this opportunity presented itself I jumped on it! I am leaving exactly one week from today! I am really excited, and a little nervous. I feel like I have a million things left to do, but I am getting ready slowly but ... read more
