Geo: 39.2904, -76.6122It was three summers ago in Glacier NP while hiking that we met a woman who had done the Camino de Santiago. She could not say enough about what a wonderful experience it was. We thought we were hikers, but she was talking about hiking 15 miles a day for more than a month; 500 miles, wow! In today's world what do you do next? Google it, of course. We did a little research and watched a great movie called "The Way" with Martin Sheen as the main character. Then last summer, one Sunday, the Deacon's sermon at St. Richard's in Columbia Falls, was centered around his experience of hiking the Camino the previous year. The hook had been set. As we read more and talked to more people, we were being reeled in. ... read more

Geo: 39.2642, -76.5894Wednesday, November 18 Brennan learned on Monday night that on Wednesday he would be going on a trip with G&G. He packed T-shirts and Bligh packed everything else so that the destination would remain a secret. However, when he was asked to try on the rubber boots we bought for the trip, he said, "We're going to Costa Rica to the Rain forest!" We, of course, told him there were lots of places where boots were useful. He wouldn't learn where that would be until we arrived at the BWI Airport for our flight to San Jose, Costa Rica! The suspense turned out to be worth the wait. The first day started out fine with getting to the airport, checking in and seeing Brennan's surprise when he learned where we were headed. From there, ... read more

Buffalo, NY to Warwick, RI A somber reminder of the date as we rode out of Buffalo, NY this morning; all flags were flying at half mast. I felt it also symbolised the strength and resilience of the people of the US. We were headed for Springfield, Massachusetts and took in a couple of Starbucks stops to break up the trip. On our first stop we met Craig who is riding a Triumph Tiger. We had a quick chat but as we had finished our coffee stop we carried on. When we stopped at our next stop Craig arrived and asked where we were headed (Twisted Throttle in Rhode Island) to which he most generously offered to accommodate us all at his home, which just happens to be in Rhode Island! We quickly accepted before he ... read more

... read more

...is a break from driving and going and doing. We decided to just take an extra day and relax. We'll start our day and a half trek to Massachusetts tomorrow. It also gave me a day to get caught up on the blog. Thank you all, by the way, for reading it and for your comments. I thought I'd take you on a tour of our home away from home. It's a one bed, one bath 29-foot 5th wheel. We've had it since last August and have taken it on a handful of weekend outings. So far, it's been everything we were wanting. Enjoy the nickel tour.... read more

…laundry day!! Yay…clean clothes! Always a good day when we have clean clothes. More importantly, we needed them because we went to the Orioles game. Actually, we didn’t really care about the game, we went to see the park. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a really nice baseball park. I hadn’t realized the alley between right field and the B & O Warehouse was incorporated into the new ballpark grounds. There are souvenir shops, cafes and pubs outside of which you can sit, relax and enjoy the sounds of the game. We walked around the park, taking it all in before we grabbed dinner at Boog’s BBQ. The food was pretty good, but I thought it was a little dry without the barbecue sauce. There were several to choose from at the condiment bar. The ... read more

…in Washington, D.C. What a long, tiring day! We drove to a park and ride about 20 minutes away to take the light rail train into Baltimore. Warning: you must be smarter than the machine to purchase tickets. It took us three or four tries and two machines to realize the credit card was facing the wrong direction. We hopped aboard and grabbed a couple seats. They were facing backward. Oh well, we’ll be able to see where we’ve been. The last stop before that particular train went to the airport was not where we needed to be to catch a train to D.C. Using the handy-dandy driving app on my phone, we walked the mile or so to Baltimore’s Penn Station. Once there, getting tickets was easy now that we knew how. We had our ... read more

...but we're not actually in Baltimore as the location says. Freeland, MD is not on their list...yet. Anyway, today was a drive day. We did actually try to go out to Virginia Beach and do what we did in Myrtle Beach, but we couldn't find a big enough parking lot so we bailed and came straight(ish) here to the campground/resort. This place has just about everything including an RC track! It's a huge park with lots of full-time and seasonal residents, same as all the others. We drove across another long bridge that led to an even longer tunnel that took us under Entrance Reach and Hampton Bar. Trailer’s first tunnel. I forgot to mention one thing in yesterday's post...somewhere between the Outer Banks and the campground, we were driving on highway 168 and drove by ... read more
