So as you all know, my plan to blog our trip didn't work because my wifi didn't work. BOOOO!!!! But we are home now and just getting into a routine that fits us as a married couple. We had a great time! I will load the pics up soon! We missed all of you and hope to see you all soon! This weekend we go to my friend Christina's wedding in Lancaster, so pray for as beautiful weather as I was fortunate to have! Mom & Dad Magnuson will be going too! Then we can really settle down and get things done around here. Chris has been working diligently putting in a linen closet!!! Next we need to put a wall up to enclose our bedroom (as lofts don't sell as easily in the city). Lastly ... read more

Day 21 Hagerstown to Mar-Lu-Ridge to Baltimore, MD Picking up the kids from camp. Home sweet home!! 7,500 miles wow! 7,500 miles of driving over the course of 21 days is a lifetime in today's world of high speed...everything! And I loved it! We took our time and got to know more about our country, our friendship, and ourselves. I would like to thank Don for his patience, persistence, and practical suggestions (that I often ignored). I had a blast and if you get the chance to head out and explore, do it...it is well worth the trip! Thanks for riding along with us!! Maybe next year we will head south or north....way north....Don saw a trip to the North Pole...hmmm....not sure if I'm up for that much fun! Who knows? ... read more

We're on the road again - after all, it's almost summer and Maine is calling again. It's not quite as ambitious as last summer with our cross country fun but we're revisiting American history this spring. Last June as we were driving through Tennessee and Virginia we kept seeing these signs with vaguely familiar names from Civil War battles but since we were moving fast by that point, we didn't stop but said we'd come back...and so we have. We left CA yesterday - yes, it was one of those how much can you pack in two suitcases trips...and are spending the weekend with Steve's parents outside Baltimore and will be off on the road tomorrow morning. We've decided road tripping is definitely a favorite family occupation - in case any of you doubt it, follow ... read more

So this isn't a travel post at all. I realize that. However, the point of this blog to record my journey into a completely new part of my life changed by the city I'm moving too, the new job I am going to have and my graduate school, but I don't think this blog should be restricted to just that. This post will talk about something else that I have been struggling with for a year, and now only taking the proper steps to deal with. Now, I have to go into some back history, because this post simply isn't about the superficial fear of being overweight. I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 last February, but before that I went through a number of changes that inevitably landed me in the hospital, and of course, ... read more

Well, things have been kicking up around here! I just got accepted into my top school and I start in the fall! I'm really excited but I have to take one more undergrad course in English Literature. Its a bit of a drag, but English is pretty easy and I've always enjoyed it. So I am moving this week! I have lots to do, but I think I can handle it. I have to go to Goodwill to drop off the stuff I don't want anymore, I have to pack up the stuff to take on Wednesday for Alex's birthday and I also have to continue to pack up what can fit into my car! Then on Saturday, we'll be loading all the big items into the uhaul and off we go! My roommate Kat, is ... read more

Summer 2009 - Life in the City We arrived in Baltimore and took a slip at the Anchorage Marina a few days before the big 4th of July weekend. This is a great marina for live aboard cruisers, since it has a West Marine a block away, a Safeway supermarket across the street and at least 50 bars & restaurants within walking distance. As usual we were assigned docking space on their outer floating pier due to our width of 22’. This provided us with a good view of all of the vessel traffic entering Baltimore harbor. We saw schooners, skipjacks bulk sugar ships and all sizes of yachts and pleasure crafts go by. While cruising north I saw an ad for a “Captain Wanted” to drive the water taxis in Baltimore harbor. I applied for ... read more

It's been a while Travelblog! Since I last updated this I've done so much. I've settled in properly here at RPI and just about started my research properly; I've gotten myself a part time job on campus (as not to break immigration law); I've been to a drive in movie; and been to Baltimore for a weekend as well as spending quite a bit of time round at Sigma Phi Epsilon. So where to start? I went to the activity fair one day last week to have a look at all the different clubs and teams here at RPI, and there's a lot of them - presumably as a result of Troy being so small. I put my name down for Volleyball and Curling for some reason, neither of which I really meant to sign up ... read more
