After an early wake up and final check of all needed items, we were on our way to Diane and John's for our Limo pickup to Boston's Logan Airport. Traffic was light so we arrived in plenty of time. After checking our bags in at curbside, and waiting for the others to do so, Ray happens to look at the boarding passes and noted that we had been upgraded to 1st class. Sounded great till he realized that the destination was now Orlando, Fl and his name was Mohammed something or other. As our bags had already disappeared down the conveyer belt, concern crept in rapidly. Luckily the bags were correctly sent to MSP and just the boarding passes were incorrect. I can only imagine not finding this out till we were ready to board. I ... read more

And so the Adventure begins. After a video on how and what traveling is like on an RV, we took off. Must've met I didn't pay much attention about hoses, etc., since I had no intention of dealing with them! However, I had to learn where to stand and the "special" hand signals I had to use when Q had to back up or he needed to "balance" the RV. The other thing, even more importantly, I found out is that there is NO hairdryer (add that to Walmart list). Finally, we are off and saying the ride was boring is an understatement! I had to entertain myself with reading highway signs and there were not too many of them as my pictures will show: South Dakota sign, at least three signs for Wall Drug, and ... read more

We made it! And, I trust we are all tucked in for the night by now in our spiffy new "Minnie Winnie's".This will be short and sweet as it's been a long day. Dorrie & I flew into Minneapolis from Naples on Thursday and met up with Tom & Peggy who had flown in the same day from Virginia. We met for dinner at City Grill at the Mall of America for a great meal. Al & Sue flew into Kansas a week earlier to attend a wedding and met up with us today in Iowa. Dorrie & I spent about 10 hours between yesterday and today visiting just about all 520 stores in the Mall of America and managed to ride one of the many roller coasters with Tom so that we could impress upon ... read more

Pretrip (Friday the 13th...) We're on our way to our Alaskan Adventure! Tom and Sally came this morning and we loaded the van and went to Sister's Cafe for lunch. We headed west to Iowa where we will pick up the RVs in Forest City. In Waterloo, we went past the Grout Museum and the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum! We crossed Buddy Holly Dr in Clear Lake and had a moment of silence. Tom and Sally have FL friends in Forest City (pop. 4600) -an amazing coincidence - who welcomed us with libations and snacks! We headed for Bill's, the local super market, to select the perishables that will sustain us for several days. On to the "Winnebago Wonderland"... Quite the place. An army of RVs awaited us with eager and confused travel ... read more

Up early to get things ready to roll. The Winnebago factory sent over coffee and danishes for everyone to the orientation center. We watched the maditory 25 minute video and then met with one of the staff to get our ignition key. Took some pics and WE'RE OFF! First stop was in Fairmont, MN at Wal-Mart to stock up. I made a long list prior to today and decided to split it up into 3 lists so we could get out of there faster. Greg, Joe, and Mark and I each took our assigned lists and hit the store. We gathered all our items and got of there in 20 minutes. The trick is finding a place to stow everything so it won't crash on the floor while driving. Several things could be stored outside underneath ... read more
