Approximately 13 months ago, I had my first Kalalau experience over a long July 4th weekend. Since then I have spent seven months backpacking in South America and seen many amazingly beautiful things, but all that has only convinced me further that Kalalau is perhaps the most beautiful place on the planet. Throughout my recent travels abroad, I have looked forward to my next Kalalau journey. Anticipating minimal employment and ideal summer weather, I dreamt of a week long camping trip, but little did I know I'd be thrown right into a relatively busy work schedule. Hey Everyone- Few weeks late as usual, but here are all the spectacular pics from Kim and Erin's visit to the island. We had so much fun. I realize some our dupes from Facebook, but guess you'll just have to deal with it... hehe Also, I think it should be noted what was going on behind the scenes of all these pictures. While Kim was planning her and Erin's exciting daily adventures in Hawaii.... someone back at home was planning some extremely exciting future plans. A week after Kim got back from Hawaii... 5/4/2009 Leaving this Thursday for Kaua'i. This was a last minute change from a trip to the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. I was looking forward to some snorkeling in Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen; however, the Swine Flu became a little to real for us, so now it's Hawaii. We are staying at the Wyndham Ka'eo Kai Resort in Princeville. Trip Report Wyndham Ka'eo Kai Resort: The front desk was a little difficult to find because it still has the old hotel name on it. There is a small banner type of sign on the road that says Wyndham, that's where you turn in. At check in they make you go to the concierge to get your parking pass, oh and to try to get you to go to a timeshare presentation...actually, any time you ... read more

In the morning, I took off to the lighthouse because Judy said it was her favorite quiet place on the island. It's just on the North Shore -- can't miss it. It's also a bird sanctuary. I saw my first Albatross. It flew up with it's big feet and then flew down back into its nesting area. There were huge waves that day and breaking on the rocks about forty feet high! The volunteers there who told you about the place were really nice and one took a picture of yours truly looking from the ocean to the shore. Like I've said, with travel, I'm working with this: I go where I'm invited. So I was doing CST work in Chicago earlier this year on the invitation of a fine fellow that I'd met in Florida at Trump's by Gosh "Mar a Friggin Largo", named Alan. Alan invites me to Chicago and then to Kauai with his Bros. Here's everybody in Kauai right now. We're on the North Shore. It's very cool here. (Some rain.) Alan sent me an email about some places in Kauai to present the book. We had an event at the Talk Story Bookstore in Hanapepe on Friday the 6th and will have another on Friday the 13th, from 6 to 9 PM.
