It's July 2, 2009 at 2:39 AM... My flight leaves for Frankfurt, Germany today. By tomorrow, I will be in beautiful, sunny Madrid, Spain. I still haven't finished all of my homework assignments. I have finished all of my Creative Writing work (thank God!) but none of my Digital Photography classwork has been finished. I still have to print out my research paper, make a powerpoint on Diane Arbus, take about eight more pictures and make a second powerpoint. They are all due on Monday, so my first weekend in Spain I will be doing very little partying, unfortunately. I AM packed, however. All except for my electronics, which are charging for the thirteen hour plane ride. I hope they play a decent in-flight movie. I know I'm not going to be able to sleep on ... read more

Sitting at home, less than a month to go until my plane leaves for Frankfurt, Germany and then to Madrid, Spain. I still have five homework assignments to complete, and they're huge! I have to read "Spain in Mind" an anthology of short stories and poems written about Spain and write journal entries about them, at least five sentences long. Then I have to read a book called "Writing Poetry" and write journal entries about each chapter. I have to draw fourteen pictures in my other class journal. Then I have to make two powerpoints - one about Diane Arbus and the second with pictures I have taken (6 people, 6 places, 6 things, 3 self portraits, and 3 more self portraits which I can't be in). So I'm going to be a busy, busy bee ... read more

Hi Everyone! How are you all? I hope all is well. Things here are fine! I'm so sorry I haven't written a blog in a while! My last week in Europe was pretty crazy, to say the least. I took my exams last Tuesday and Wednesday and then flew to Oslo on Thursday of last week (June 28)! After an exciting time in Europe, I'm back in the States, and am physically and mentally adjusting again. Little things here or there I am starting to find odd, like plastic bags in grocery stores and the incessant demand for ice in all drinks. On the other hand, some things are very nice about being back in the States! I demanded yesterday that my sister take me to Chipotle for a burrito. For some reason, Mexican food ... read more

It's the day before lift off, and Stef and I are both running around at a slightly frenetic pace, checking and double checking our supplies. Short of a few set backs (such as Patty needing the pin pulled out of her leg and Stef ripping one of her contacts practically in half this morning), we should be good to go for our Peruvian adventure! ... read more

Europe 2007Doris CI have just updated my travel itinerary to include a long weekend in Sweden to help my old friend, Pam, celebrate her 40th birthday! "Old" referring to the fact that I've known her for 30+ years NOT to the number of years she has been on this planet :-) She lives in a little town called Strangnas, about 45 mins from Stockholm. I am so excited to visit Pam in her European home!... read more

We got two lunch buddies. There names are Daniel and Nick. We often go out for lunch with them. One friday Daniel asked us if we are interested in joining a bar-be-Que that his friend is organinzing. Lets go a lil back say flash back. When I joined Ciena Atlanta or say Alpharetta Amit my colleague from Ciena India introduced me with Daniel. We planned a lunch out at a Japanese Restaurant. The main attraction was Sushi (Raw fish with Rice). Then Daniel introduced us to Nick . Nick was also working with Ciena but in Embedded division. Seems they joined at the same time . We started and in the way we became good friends. Now a days we have our lunch together trying various cuisines. We have tried Mexican, Japanese, Thai , Indian, American ... read more

It was my first day In Atlanta office. I was very curious to know how offices are in US. How people will react seeing me. How things will go with me. I got up early got ready at around 8:30 but Amit was not ready. so we started at around 9:30. I was afraid first day and how they will react but others assured me. I entered office Saif took me to Kathy she was HR but was newly joined so took me to Bonnie (In facilities) to get my access card and then to Ruth (HR head). By name I was expecting her to be a guy but she was a old aged lady. She told me about office, facilities, handed over my much awaited Bank OF America Debit Card. Then she again took me ... read more

Well, I am 7 days out from leaving the states. I feel ok about my preparation status. I got a backback, which I love and is very comfortable. Hooray REI. And I think I am well stocked in the toiletries and clothing department. Still waiting to hear about how the weather will be in Poland and Germany. I am hoping not cold, but somehow I sense that Imay be dissapointed. I have excellent news! I was really stupid when researching this 'Brzezinka' place that I was going to. Now, true, Brzezinka is the polish name for Birkenau, the camp attached to Auchwicz. However, it is also the name of the forest base camp about an hour from the Grotowski Center. So, I will not be in a concentration camp. Which soothes my nerves just a little ... read more
