I am back in Marietta, staying with my parents for the next 10 days until I leave. http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_1wl.html Only 10 more days! My concert was a huge success!!! Everyone says they enjoyed themselves immensely, and we raised. . . (drumroll) 800 bones! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and to everyone who helped make the night flow smoothly. AND yesterday I finally got my US tax return for. . . 750 bones! Wooo! It pays to think you're still a dependant and take out extra taxes all year and then find out you are not! I have a GA tax return coming soon for around 200 USD sometime soon! And then there are the expenses. They certainly keep piling up. These past few days I have bought: *Train tickets in Italy; *a flight to ... read more

(For anyone north of the Mason-Dixon line, please note that the aforementioned phrase loosely translates to "May I offer you (singular) a cool refreshment?") Hi everyone! After hours of travelling, and waiting in the La Guardia airport for far too long (especially Connie), we made it back to our homes in one piece! Yay! And not a moment too soon, apparently. It turns out that AirTran Airlines (the airline that we were both flying on to go home to Atlanta and Cleveland) switched to a different computer system only today, and that system crashed! So in 50 airports or so around the US, lines are incredibly backed up (with a four hour wait or so). In Atlanta, the line was outside of the airport- that's how bad it is. Thankfully, Connie and I are back now, ... read more

Hi everyone! Before I start writing down my frantic thoughts (once again), I just wanted to say thank you to all who have supported this journey across the pond (and to NYC). You know who you are! I honestly couldn't have done it without you, and I am so grateful that you were willing to support this endeavor. Please know that I will be thinking about all of you on this trip! And hopefully I'll have some good postcards and goodies to bring back with me. :) Now! It's Wednesday morning at 8:30 am and I have to be out of the house by 2. In typical Kira fashion, that means I haven't finished packing and I can't find my contact lens case. But I'm pretty sure it's downstairs. Pretty sure. The weather in New York ... read more

Hi there friends and family, I graduated on Sunday, May 7th, moved down to Atlanta on Monday, May 8th, and I'm already going crazy on Tuesday, May 9th. I leave for 9 days to NYC and Europe and I need to pull myself together! I haven't packed, I need to print out the hotel and flight information, I need to find a good travel purse, and I had to have the Passport agency expedite (?) my passport ($74.40) because Charleston's passport agency is backed up! EEK! I have absolutely no idea where I'm living next year at the University of Rochester, since I got waitlisted for various on-campus apartments. My best offer so far has come from 3 math grad students ( all guys) who are quite scholarly and are looking for a 4th roommate for ... read more
