Hi Everyone, Finished our second Sea Day. The ocean has been pretty calm. After reading for a bit on my balcony, I went up to the deck just above the pool and found a spot to sit and read. Weather was perfect for me. Most people were wearing sweaters/sweatshirts and long pants. I had shorts and sleeveless top on and it felt great. Did not get a lot of reading done. A couple sat down at my table as I was eating my (very good) pizza for lunch and had their lunch with me. Very nice and chatty couple from Oregon. As soon as they left, a couple of the solo traveling gals came by that I had met so they sat with me and then another gal joined us. We went to the talk on ... read more

Hi Everyone, My trans-Atlantic cruise was planned many months ago but I unexpectedly found myself having to make the trip solo. It is 14 days from Ft Lauderdale to cross the ocean to Rotterdam, The Netherlands. There are stops, in order: Bermuda, Ireland, Guernsey, England and France. From Rotterdam, I will take a train to Amsterdam and stay there for 3 nights. I fly home from Amsterdam, Wednesday, April 24th. I'm very excited! Picked up a shiny brand new Malibu on Saturday afternoon from Avis in Leesburg. Left at 5AM this morning (Sunday) and drove to Ft. Lauderdale. It was a great car to drive, peppy and responsive. I haven't driven a new car in over 100,000 miles. :-) Avis immediately got me to Holland America's Nieuw Statendam ship. Had a very pleasant wait in the ... read more

April 3 The April Fools Day, moved to the Third. Heavy rain and rush hour traffic made me wonder if I would miss my flight. Still I made it to the airport by ten for my eleven flight. Zipped through check in and got my chair right away. As always, mine was the last gate. My pushed was about sixty, stopped to visit a friend and exchange lunch items, then proceeded to tell me haw far the gate was. 1st surprise, a shuttle bus would take us from gate 23 to gate 53. The waiting room looked surprisingly empty but the plane was on time. 1st fall as I tripped at the door of the plane. No damage. We sat on the runway for half an hour and were warned it would be a bumpy flight. ... read more

Okie Dokie! You may as well pick your seat, sit back and relax. This is going to take awhile. Our last blog ended with our Royal Carribean cruise. This one will take you along on everything that has happened or that we have done since then. Oh, Boy.….I can hear your moans now. No matter, we are marching on with it all. Like it or Not. Our microwave finally “gave up the ghost”…..what does that even mean? Google states: “to stop trying to do something because you know that you will not succeed”. I guess our microwave knew it couldn't nuke anything anymore after 16 years of use. Our dear friend, Art, helped Cory to get it out of its spot in our RV. That was a real challenge but they succeeded. We ordered a new ... read more

“The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” Our best and only plan was to provide you with a blog on a wonderful cruise that took you, along with us, on the high seas. That will still happen BUT first, we must fill you in on what took us AWRY. After returning home from this marvelous cruise, Cory was stricken with Covid. I followed suit soon after…..are we surprised?? One of our fellow cruisers became congested during the last couple of days of the cruise. It didn't take long for the majority of us to all become congested once home…..and sick with COVID-19. I was the last one to be defiled…..now the final one to recover. I'm still confined to the inside of our RV while our friends are gradually returning to our Coffee ... read more

Sticking to my word…..remember in our last blog I said we still owed you another blog covering the rest of December and half of January. Well, hunky-dory….here it is! Oh, Happy Days! One day in December, we enjoyed the company of our good friend, Mike. He used to live here at Tropical Palms. His site was right between us and Sam & Sandy’s. Oh, Lucky Mike….he must have been born under a lucky star! He was the perfect neighbor for both of us. But….but….he moved to Lake Magic a few years ago. Could it have been something we said or did? Jeez! He reassured us it wasn't us……yeah, right! Why was he laughing, applauding, kicking up his heels, singing happy tunes and shooting off fireworks the day left!! We still stay in touch. He came for ... read more

Oh, Boy! When you think you have completed something and then realize you never did…..you have to wonder why. WHY?? I was starting to think about writing our next blog. I was sure we had published one about our St.Augustine trip. I searched through my 629 blogs……it wasn't there! Where was it? Where God, where? Had I deleted it during a crazed moment? Never! I was shaken and nauseous. Then the spark lit. I had put some of the trip photos on our Facebook page. I had never written a full blog about it with ALL the details, minutia and photos. Whew! I wasn't losing my mind. Obviously, I had not drunk from the Fountain of Youth when we visited it. It wouldn't have worked anyway. I am what I am. Lulu wanted to find the ... read more

For some reason I couldn’t sleep the night before leaving. Ride to airport uneventful and the flight to FLL smooth. Check in routine and then took a little nap. Marylou arrived shortly after Seven and we shared a salad and we’re in bed by nine. She had been traveling since 3am. Beautiful day, we had coffee then went down to breakfast. I tried grits and followed the lead of a fellow guest. Added brown sugar and honey. Very good. Then I took MaryLou on a walk. We exited the bar area to the dining terrace and found that all the gates to the pool area were chained. When we tried to get back in we found that all the doors were locked. Thought about climbing the fence …..not. I had my phone so I called the ... read more

So much to celebrate and enjoy during this festive season. In this blog, you will see us celebrating at CELEBRATION (the town that Disney built but does not own anymore), indulging ourselves at a Thanksgiving dinner, enjoying all the friends and places here at Tropical Palms and around, partaking in a glorious Golf Cart Parade…..and much more. Sit back and relax…this may take a while. YAWN! The Town of Celebration is just a hop, skip, and jump from our park. Every Christmas, they decorate their Main Street like a Winter Wonderland. There is an enormous Christmas tree and a skating rink. In the evening, it even snows (soapflakes)! Hey, it's Florida! The entire town looks beautiful as so many residents highly decorate their homes…..some actually hire professional decorators to turn their properties into a beautiful Christmas ... read more

Second stop of this little multi-trip, I'm flying into West Palm Beach for Thanksgiving. I'm actually only posting this after having spent a week on and under the sea out of Palm Beach, but you'll have to wait that I sort out all my pictures for this special blog! USA close all over the place for Thanksgiving. So I was more than happy that landing after 1pm, the hotel shuttle was still operating. I'm staying for my first night in a pretty nice hotel right in the middle of Downtown West Palm Beach. I dropped my bags and embarked for a nice 2-3 hours walk around West as well as actual Palm Beach. Well, this area is truly different from Austin. Let's admit it, it's also one of the most expensive zip code to live in ... read more
