So sorry to have not updated recently. We received the news December 23 that the World Cruise would not take place but that we could continue starting March 22 in Singapore. We decided to take that option instead of canceling the whole thing. Some of our fellow travelers did and booked for next year. Who knows what next year will bring or even the next few months as we have learned the hard way. Thank goodness for VRBO - we quickly found a place in Pompano Beach and we are so happy to be here. Another rough winter is in progress in the Northeast - sheesh! Enjoying the beach, and the added luxury of having my brother and sisters-in-law here, each for a month. Grandsons are coming down for a visit during there week off in ... read more

Our friends from Dallas arrived by air into the airport area of our motel yesterday. As we have been unable to fulfil our promise of hiring a car to take them around for the day, they have hired a car. Our first stop of the day is Everglades Holiday Park where we went on an airboat ride. The ride was excellent and we saw many alligators and a variety of birds. We were a bit disappointed with the attitude of the park. It all seemed to just be about moving everyone around as quickly as possible. There was little friendliness and we felt a little like we were in the way. At least we had a good visit From there we drove the Butterfly Farm in Deerfield Beach. We have been here before and thought our ... read more

Following Georges visit to the doctors in Jamaica, he has made a good recovery, but the medication has now run out and he thinks he still needs a little more. The rash was still pretty vast and the associated nerve pain more prominent that we would wish. The original doctor did advise that this may be the case. The doctor’s office was about a mile from our motel. The receptionist had advised a bus or taxi, but we decided that our feet would do this job and walked the mile or so. George got some additional pain killers and some steroids and advice to help along with the virus. With Walgreens across the street, this was the obvious place to take his medication prescriptions and also to start on our essential small shopping list. When we ... read more

I had been waiting for years for something to come along and wake me up, and I didn't even know it. I spent my days plugging away, working hard, struggling to finish school, get a good job, and then. . . and then what? In September 2010 I realized that I had no idea what I was going to do after I did all of the things I was supposed to do. I also came to the conclusion that I wasn't happy. I worked as a waitress to put my self through college. And after changing my major, and my mind, several times I was still there 8 years and tens of thousands of dollars later. I was miserable. I suddenly became restless, and angry, and emotional. I knew I had to get away. I just ... read more

Happy April Fool’s Day. We had a good time at Mom’s, ate lots of ice cream, got prescriptions filled, changed oil and filter on the boat. Mom and I played Yahtzee and SkipBo. I finally managed to beat her at SkipBo by playing it her way, cut-throat. Thursday night (last night) was supposed to be stormy, with thunder, lightning and high winds, so we paid for another night at Matheson Hammock Marina. We stayed on the boat last night only, as they don’t allow liveaboards. Anyway, the rain and wind did not happen last night, even though the middle of the state was hit hard by bad weather associated with the cold front moving south. So we were out by 8:30 this morning, under cloudy skies and hot, humid temps. We were still waiting for the ... read more

That's it, that's all folks! Today we were able to go out! And that means I completed all the dives and certifications i set out to do! All the dives today were on nitrox, my first time using it and it was pretty cool. The first dive was my deepest dive yet at 101 feet (everyone else went 100feet...) on a wreck called 'Captain Dan" and it was a beauty of a wreck!. Huge! With all kinds of cabins and hallways (theres a bunch of youtube videos of it). We didnt penetrate the wreck but I would love you go back again and see the inside. I was with my original dive buddies, Mark and Jim, who both snapped some pictures of the dives, so those will be posted when I get them. Both Mark ... read more

Diving is Life..... everything else is just waiting That is a quote from one of Steve's shirt's, and it definitely proved true yesterday. I was all set and packed for my last dive for the Advance Open water course Saturday morning until I received the always dreaded call from my instructor letting me know that the dive boat canceled on us due to weather. The wind had picked up to between 20-25 knots creating 4-6 foot waves and there was a small craft advisory out. So no diving yesterday and that's what happens with diving. It was a beautiful sunny day, but windy. And NO diving. Today we were able to go ahead with our schedule rescue dive because it was in a fresh water lake (my first fresh dive!). My two dive buddies were ... read more

Working for the weekend! I haven't dove again this week, however I have accomplished a fair amount. On Monday evening (after a day full of studying), I successful complete my first dive certification! A dive certification I actually wasn't planing on having, Enriched Air, also know as "Nitrox". The air in a regular diving tank is the same as the air we breath only compressed; 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen. Breathing nitrogen under pressure means your body is accumulating it in your body and this is why there is a limited amount of time a diver can stay at a certain depth and why divers must wait a calculated amount of time between dives in order for the nitrogen to leave the body. Nitox is a difference percentage mix between oxygen and nitrogen and specifically ... read more
