After waiting for two years (thanks covid!), my parents and I finally got to restart our favorite tradition: taking my nieces and nephews (their grandchildren) for their first Disney trip. We had planned to take all three of each of my sisters' kids in April and August 2020, respectively, but.... Covid. When the April trip was cancelled, I was bummed - my flight and park tickets were already paid for and they were moving to Sweden, so this would be a last opportunity for a while. But I still held out hope for the August trip....which was dashed into smithereens of course. So, finally, I got to take the youngest of my NY sister's kids for her first time, but unlike the kids on other two trips, she would be alone with us old fogeys. I ... read more

We have been having the best time at Disney Fort Wilderness. When we arrived, I knew almost right away that I wanted to write a blog post just about our resort. The kids played checkers on oak barrels when we arrived and waited to check in, and then we sat out on the porch outside of check-in and rocked in rocking chairs while we waited for the afternoon sun shower to ease up. It felt wonderful! There is so much to share that I don't know where to begin! Perhaps it's best to start with general info and then move into our experiences. First, there are over two dozen resorts at Disney World. Each one has a different theme and different amenities. Andrew and I had enough SPG points to stay at Disney Swan for free ... read more

My stay at LazyDays was just that; LazyDays. It is a gorgeous facility with lots of amenities, and they give you vouchers for breakfast and lunch at their café which for me is unwalkable from the campsite. I took the shuttle. This is the complex I bought Moya from 5 years ago, and where Iearned how to drive and back into a campsite. It is imperative that you do this properly at this campground, and I did. I backed in and was parallel and stopped short of the end off the campsite and was straight in the site. Score one for the me - I was very proud. There were lots of people around watching, too. LazyDays has a distinctive method of parking, and I can always tell when I watch someone else park if they ... read more

After having spent four wonderful days with my friend Belinda at Quest Air it was time for me to leave for Disney World to attend the conference that I had come to Florida for. Belinda took me to the hotel, the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin. On our way to the restaurant by the pool where we wanted to have dinner together we bumped into my colleagues from Norway and Sweden and they joined us. And then it was time to say goodbye to Belinda, she drove back to Quest – again thank you so much for having me and for the great days we had. The conference I was at was the 32nd Annual Conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I had organised a symposium on the topic of gamification, and like ... read more

In the last week of June I attended the World Congress on Positive Psychology at – no, I am not kidding – Walt Disney World in Florida. I have written something on the congress on cut-e scienceblog. It was a super interesting and extremely inspiring congress. But as you can imagine I also wanted to explore Disney World. Disney World is a huge area. There are four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, which is the classical one where you find the famous Cinderella Castle and all the Disney characters; Epcot, which in a way explores the world of today and tomorrow; url=https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/hollyw... read more

Hope you have your backpack on as we take you through the Webster Flea Market, again. Remember...the two BIG days at this mega market is the Monday of Martin Luther King Day & Presidents Day. These were the days we really looked forward to when we would set up our wares here to sell. We haven't done that in the last two years. Now we look forward to them as buying days....even though we are getting out of the business, we still sell on EBay. It will always be in our blood no matter what blood vessel is transplanted. ? President's Day did not disappoint. It was filled with hundreds of dealers just hoping you would take an interest in some of their goodies. We know how they feel. It has to be an avid collector ... read more

I could spend all day writing about all the things there is to do at the Disney world Florida parks but I will keep it as brief as possible. The main Disney park is fantastic and fun for everyone no matter what age. Family rides, kids rides and adult roller coasters mean that the park caters for everyone. The Disney parade brings out the child in everyone and I think it is on twice a day but definitely worth taking timeout of your no doubt hectic schedule to watch! The fast passes are very useful and we found that we got so much more done with them. Disney really had a great idea of introducing fast passes and it makes the queues much more tolerable. The weather in Florida is nearly always fantastic but with this ... read more
