It's February 25, snowing up north, and here I am enjoying summer! Yes, that's right - SUMMER! Ok, technically it's not "summer" -- but it sure feels like it. As I sit typing this blog the temperature sits at a comfortable 74 degrees. It is 11:30pm. Where are April & I? We are on an island, yet still in the US. We are closer to Cuba than Miami, 90 miles to be exact. We are on an island known as the Conch Republic. An island popular with parrotheads (April and I included). An island known for its fantastic diversity, excellent fishing, [View Full Entry]

One anniversary I took my wife to a vacation rental spot in Key West called Keys Luxury Resort. They have two properties that you can select from depending on what your taste is. We chose the Coral Hammock Vacation Homes since we weren’t much of boaters and wouldn’t get much use out of the docks at Oceanside Condos and Marina. The Coral is set up like a little community [View Full Entry]

Key West Bed and Breakfast The Heron House is a Key West bed & breakfast we stayed at 2 years ago when we went to the Keys for a friends wedding. It was really nice with beautiful gardens that occupied every corner of the property. This was a luxury bed & breakfast if I ever saw one. With only 23 rooms you get a real sense of seclusion and privacy. As for eating, you would think a city like Key West would have a lot of health food options. They had a couple that I [url [View Full Entry]

It is hard to say goodbye. We leave tomorrow. It has been such a relaxing time here. Today we parasailed. We were the only ones on the boat so it was really nice not having to wait on others. We were dipped in the ocean once. What a view. Sunset was spent at Fort Zachary Taylor SP. It has to be THE best place to see the sunset in Key West. There were only 4 other people on the beach. It is not the chaotic, crowded, cruise ship ridden place that Mallory Square has become..oh how I miss the "old" Key [View Full Entry]

It's legit

It’s all because of hurricane Wilma that we got a taste of Fantasy Fest in Key West. The annual tribute to “Freaks, Geeks, and Goddesses” was postponed from its normal (that’s an odd word to use here) dates in October because of the big storm. So we arrived absolutely clueless (admitting we never even heard of Fantasy Fest) and got a big surprise. The guy at the Visitor’s Center tried to explain the event. Said he, “Well, there will be people promenading up and down Duval Street dressed (and undressed) in all sorts of accessories and costumes.” Th [View Full Entry]

I went on a sunset cruise and met these guys then we went out partyin! champs!
So many bars, so little time! There was a heap of shirts with this on. I've never been to so many bars in such a short time. I spent 7 days in Key West and partied 6 of em! Every 1 is on island time, 24-7 partyin & no dress code, boardies, pluggers & a singlet, top stuff. Each day I would go down to Maloray square ( right on the H2O, a ton of little stalls sellin stuff & lots of street performers) & I'd watch the sunset. Then I'd go bar hoppin! There was bars right on the H2O, [View Full Entry]

Key west! Where do I start I stayed for a week and I want to stay! I have had such a good time partyin, fishing, cruising the streets on a scooter, watching the sunset and more partyin! I have so many good pics so i have put them into few entries to fit them all in. So I will post 1 of the fishing trip, the partyin and the sunsets. I arrived on Monday and planned to go back to fort lauderdale on Wednesday with Lisa, the kids and Sara (from camp). But I had such a good time I asked [View Full Entry]

” The voyage of discovery is not seeking new landscapes but having new eyes. Marcel Proust “ January 26, Wednesday Fishing Day meant an early “get-up”. I made the lunches and Bob went to purchase the bait, squid and shrimp, and Rob was already cleaning up the boat. All aboard and off we went on a beautiful calm sunny morning. Floyd was my fishing tutor and Bob worked with Rob. The rods were big and at first a little awkward. The first stop was to “catch more bait” and that we did. Every time the line went into the water [View Full Entry]
