Impossible de rentrer Flamingo, ... read more

3/16/2014 - Had a large breakfast prepared by the men - pancakes, eggs, and bacon. 80 degrees and sunny today. We went to Coral Castle. Very interesting, the short story is the the man who built it was in love with a young girl who rejected him the day before their wedding, he left Latvia and came to the US. He worked a few jobs out west then came to Florida where he built the castles for his lost love. He never married. He cut the stones from his own quarry, shaped them and placed them in the area - by himself. No one knows how he accomplished this. A truly amazing feat. If you are headed to the keys, it is beside US1 in Florida City, take a visit.... read more

3/15/2014 - Today we will be leaving the Keys and headed back to Florida City. The weather here at Bluewater has been great. Only one night we had wind, thunder, and rain. 70 and 80 the eight days we have been here. We will be staying at the Southern Comfort RV Park again on the way up. Jack, the famous cook; will be doing hamburger helper for supper. Aleta made two pans of homemade fudge, one for each motorhome. Played cards/marbles, did our walkabout, then called it a night.... read more

Geo: 25.4475, -80.4794The day started out cloudy. We headed down the west coast to Venice. A holiday area which you enter and exit via a drawbridge. While waiting for a sailboat to pass we noticed a birds nest in the traffic lights. Next stop was Venice Beach. The sand is not quite as nice as Pensacola. People were in swimming. After Venice we continued south and ended up in a tropical storm with high winds, torrential rain and lightning and thunder - an interesting experience. It was difficult to see the road even with the wipers on full. Headlights were needed to identify vehicles in front. This continued all the way south and east as we traveled along highway 41 to Florida City. We passed through the Everglades and will see them again in a couple ... read more

Geo: 25.4479, -80.4792For our Florida trip, we flew into Ft. Lauderdale and rented a car. Our flight from GSP to Atlanta was delayed so that we missed our connection in Atlanta and were later getting in than scheduled which put us in rush hour traffic driving to Florida City and our motel. Rush hour traffic in the Miami area is really bad – akin to Southern California. But we made it and spent four nights in the Fl City area while visiting Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. The first day at Everglades, we took the Anhinga trail, a boardwalk into a wetlands area with huge amounts of birds and alligators. We then drove to Flamingo, rented a canoe, and paddled down and back along a canal to Coots Bay, then out to Florida Bay. Interesting and ... read more
