(Be sure to check out the videos we've added also! There is also a video of Memphis and San Francisco) As we drove into Yosemite it was clear we were leaving civilization and entering the wilderness. We had no radio stations, no cell phone reception, and our Bed & Breakfast was literally a small house on top of the mountain. We spent the first evening watching episodes of Entourage and getting a good nights rest before our day of exploring the national park. Yosemite itself is gorgeous with mo... read more

Which of course Raye did not. I regretted it part way up the trail. I remember seeing it in the trunk of the car after I changed into my hiking boots and thinking “Nah, I do not need that, if I am going to a waterfall I spend so much time scrambling up rocks and having to throw it up ahead of me it is a bother." Well, there was no rock scrambling, but there was climbing (two plus miles worth), climbing first up the trail then up the rocky uneven steps to the top of the waterfall. It is less than a mile, from the bridge to the top of the fall and it took me a very long time to get to the top.....a very long time.....) I have been on several steep ... read more

I learned a valuable lesson last night in how to keep warm when the temperature plummets after 9pm. I forgot to put the cover on my tent. By the time I got to it, it was open, well ventilated and cold. I threw the cover on, which somewhat helped (thank God my sleeping bag was warm), although it did not quite help my head which was cold. Of course at 3:00am- the hour of the Wolf I really had to pee. It took all of my energy to face the dark and chilly night and walk the however many feet it was to the bathroom. That said I made it through the night, ate dry cheerios and a banana and headed to Yosemite. First it was just winding roads and trees, pretty but not so ... read more

Something just kept coming up this morning prolonging my journey. Of course it took a little longer to get here as I needed to use the restroon and decided to stop at the Outlet Stores north of Bakersfield (they have a Banana Republic). Later I spied one of my weaknesses, A Dairy Queen. Yummy!!! I love it, except I swear it tastes better in Oregon and Wyoming, but perhaps those are just childhood memories that contain such sweetness. Luckily I had some great CD's that my boyfriend made me (stories and such) that helped the drive go quickly...(he is great!!!) So, I am writing via the most sluggish internet ever at the Mariposa KOA. The tent was successfully pitched, and although it is slightly off kilter (some spikes not completely in the ground, not spread ... read more

A relatively late start means not checking out until after 9am, and off I head to Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park, although Glacier Point is a little busier, even at this time in the morning, there is a reason, ad I say again WOW. The thing I will say about Yosemite is that to do it justice you would need to spend a lot more time in it than I did, a good 2/3 days spent driving and strolling around would have been better. Left Glacier point for San Francisco at around 11.30 and was in SF for about 4pm, journey was easy, although I wouldn't like to find my way around SF without SatNav. Only been in San Francisco for about 6hrs, but this place is a serious shoppers paradise, every store you have ... read more

Our trip to San Fran was a great break from the Valley. Our first time in a city since we hyperventilated our way through Las Vegas (if any of you have been in a city with Philippe, you can probably imagine). We had an amazing host there, Ryan. He is living the dream, playing drums in a great band called url="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=10842392" target="_blank"Music For Animals. So what's my idea of a good host? Someone who shares their life and space with you, but acknowledges that you have a different lifestyle. For example, Philippe and I go to bed and wake up with the sun. It seems the opposite for musicians and artists. Another example, Ryan took out Jorg (our German friend that we drove to San Fran) and didn't laugh when this puffy-jacket wearing kid asked ... read more

June 9th - June 11th We had to perform an Annual Family ceremony @ a priest’s place in LiverMoore The ceremony was on June 11th Monday. So we thought we would spend the weekend at some place near Liver Moore. Undoubtedly, the first place that came to my mind was Yosemite. This is one of the perfect times to visit Yosemite because of the waterfalls being in full swing. We knew 2 days are not going to be enough for Yosemite. As always, this is nearer, so we can afford one more trip. :-) This was our plan Friday - June 8th Evening- start from Tustin and reach Fresno which is 4 hours from our place. Saturday -June 9th Morning - Start from Fresno and reach Yosemite Saturday - June 9th Night- Check in @ Oakhurst ... read more

Lisa and I spent a few days last week checking out Yosemite National Park in northeastern California. What an amazing place! Granite monoliths, beautiful streams, great hiking, crazy rock climbing, cinnamon bears and giant redwoods. We were quite amused as few snowflakes began to fall on the afternoon we arrived. Fortunately, it warmed up considerably after the first unseasonably chilly night. We spent the next couple of days hiking and biking around in the sunshine. Both of us were blown away by the seemingly-endless stunning scenery in Yosemite.... read more

As of mid-May, we were still flip-flopping ideas about where to go during the Memorial Day (May-end) long weekend for our first adventure of 2007. I had been leaning towards Yosemite all along and the news of the opening of both the Tioga Road and the Glacier Point Road around May 11th kinda cemented our choice. These roads have never opened this early in the year for quite a few years now. Lower snowfall this year must have done the trick - blame global warming! The Drive - May 24/25, 2007 Of course, we were not going to get any campgrounds this late in the game, so we decided to beat the crowd and try to reach the valley early on Friday morning itself (a working day). That would give us atleast a chance in ... read more
