We eft the hostel about 11am and checked out some of the local shops then jumped on the bus to broadway where we walked u to Steiner St to the house the was used in Mrs Doubtfire. Temp:65°F - 18°C - Sunny, cold breeze Day 9 was an earlyish one with our flight to San Francisco! We got to our hostel (which is pretty nice and we have our own ensuite (oh la la). Finally got thru to the family on Skype (sorry for the early wake up call!). We have free wireless here for the next 3 days sooo woo! i can catch up with people more! 4. dag - i San Francisco Underligt nok og i modsætning til når vi er hjemme i Danmark, stod vi igen tidligt op. Og efter en 30-45 min kørsel under guidening af Sarah II (GPSen), var vi fremme ved Muir Woods, hvor de berømte Red Wood trees eller Sequoia, som de bliver kaldt, tårner sig op. De var spændende nok i starten, men vi endte på en mellemlang hikingtur, og til sidst endte det med at blive en smule trivielt, da der ikke er så meget andet end - ja træer. Frisco...our first views..Smog, smog and more smog- no golden gate bridge or alcatraz or anything remotely recognisable..so straight to our residence.. the first motel EVER in San Fran. (yes you must be thinking hell its a bit old and rundown now..but NO! it was suprisingly lovely!) A little walk on the wild side.. past the zoo and onto the beach for a brief ooooh its COLD before heading to a nearby Italian restauraunt owned by a greek family staffed by americans..as you do. I was sitting in the car, half-asleep, slightly irritated at the fact that my dad was obsessively changing the radio stations as we made our way on the freeway towards his work. My dog, knowing that the end of our destination equaled a good walk for her, was constantly whining and putting her head in my lap in order to somehow use her "adorable" factor to make the trip faster.. Turen og 1. dag i San Francisco Efter en meget lang tur over Atlanten på 25 timer og 10000 km, nåede vi endelig frem til San Francisco kl. 23 mandag aften. Det var en hård tur, for der satme ikke meget benplads i de fly, især ikke når der er en lille pige foran én, der konsekvent læner sit sæde helt tilbage lige ind i mine knæ! 25.6.09 Left home at 5.15 and had a fairly unadventurous trip to Heathrow where we had to wait for 3 hours for our connecting flight. 11 hours later we we're at SFO and luckily they let us through both immigration and customs. Took a cab to The Hotel Nikko where Tine immediately crashed due to the fact that she had a very sore throat and wasn't feeling to well. The other 3 went to the swimming pool. June 28, Sunday This was our get through San Francisco day, and the closer we got to the city, the worse the traffic was. Fortunately, most of the bumper to bumper stuff was going the other way. We stopped for a yummy lunch in Bodega Bay at the Sand Dollar, then continued our cruising speed in line through the outer suburbs and on to the Golden Gate Bridge. Wow. Another continent ticked off the list. With my work done in Tasmania, l left the volunteers house early and headed towards the airport for an internal flight to Sydney, before the long journey onto San Francisco. I made it to the airport and checked in, after a year of airports with loads of flights it was the first time that my flight had been delayed. Unfortunately this would mean a hurried connection for my international flight including a change of terminal at Sydney.
