Sarah: Thursday we left work early and headed toward San Diego after running by the library to stock up on books for a beach weekend. We made a stop for "dinner" at a McDonalds in Gila Bend and sat munching our burgers while watching all of the people heading to and returning from Rocky Point. Lots of people talking about Mexican Insurance, Wave Runners and Beach Houses. We caught bits of the news on the nice wall mounted flatscreen while studying the cast of characters gathered at the fast food restaurant. Leaving Gila Bend, we laughed about the space themed hotel and wondered what the town was like years ago when the buildings were new. We finally arrived in Oceanside around 11pm and after seven hours on the road and many pitstops. Chelsea, Louis, Steph and ... read more

Starting Point = Carlsbad, CA Final Destination = Virginia Beach, VA We are putting the west coast in our rear view mirror and heading east for our new/old home in Virginia. We will be camping in our 1985 Land Cruiser across our greatish country. We are sad to leave sunny California, but looking forward to the new stage in our lives. This blog entry is intended to allow family and friends to follow our trek from San Diego to Virginia. We aren't doing this to rub in that we are taking this way cool trip, but hoping that our trip might inspire others to go out and see what is beyond the boarders of your town. Entry #1 - 11/08/2007 - Move Planning and Trip Preparations As I am writing this first entry, our current travel ... read more

The end of our do-a-whole-lot-of-nada week is tomorrow morning, so we'll be heading toward Arizona next. While we were here we got to hang out with a lot of friends, sit around our campfire, barbeque a lot, and we even went up to Universal Studios. Echo had a day at the dog beach, and Rummy had fun trying to sit on top of any games we tried to play on the kitchen table. Overall, it was a nice week, but we're both ready for our vacation from our vacation to end. Hopefully now the weather will start to get better, and once we get back up into higher elevations in a week or two we'll have a much better time. Fingers crossed that we won't find any more snow, or threats of freezing pipes! ... read more

Oceanside Well, we're back in Oceanside, where we lived before we moved all of our stuff up to Washington. We spent the day playing with Echo, running errands, and Danielle was reading. It's an official week of relaxation as we wait for warmer temperatures in Yosemite, the Sierras/Nevada, the Grand Canyon, The Utah Nat'l parks, and Colorado. The new plan is to spend a week here on the lake and ocean on Camp Pendleton, simply relaxing and not driving anywhere. Then we'll head east to Arizona and spend some time there, in Tucson and up to Flagstaff. Then we'll attack the Grand Canyon and all those other places as the weather becomes more camping-friendly. So, lazy days, not many pictures except those of us chilling out! Lots of love to everyone, hope you're all doing well! ... read more

Where to start. Having left my home and new copado amigos in San Telmo, BA i passed quickly thru Salta in the north of Argentina and San Blas on the west coast of Mexico. I am now sitting in my new share house in San Diego, Cali. After nearly 8 months, a lot of bife de chorizo and even more communication problems, i am now back on english speaking soil in the land of knarly surfers y pinchy cabron mexicanos.(es una broma chavos, los quiero todoooo!) It trips me out hanging in north america, not the same feeling as when i was in disneyland mode 14 years ago. After more than 3 weeks walking down the street and hearing the accent i still feel like im an extra in a episode of the OC. The accent, ... read more

I have not been very motivated lately to blog. Or maybe I have just been so busy in the last month or so. It is now 9/15/06 and I am posting what I had written. I'll also work on an update tonight. 08/16/06 It has been quite hectic for the last couple of weeks. My daughter, Kelci, flew into Oakland the day before all the drama with the airlines and liquid carry-ons. We did a little sightseeing in San Francisco then drove down to San Diego to take my crazy Uncle to the airport. He flew out this morning to Hawaii for his 50th high school reunion. He says he wants to see how all the girls look. He never had any kids of his own and he is single and 69! He really has no ... read more

After spending a few days relaxing and using Lake Summit Lodge as our home base, we headed out to Oceanside to spend a week-end of sailing. This may very well have been the best and most relaxed week-end we've had in a long time. We spent two nights and three days on Hugh (Hollys brother) and Nickis new 42 foot Catalina sailboat, "Island Girl". Hugh and Nicki are our in-laws and devout Jimmy Buffet Parrot Heads finally living out their dream of living on a sailboat. Island Girl can accommodate and sleep up to eight persons in her spacious quarters below deck. Hugh Morgan (Hollys nephew) and his fiance Angie will join us for the sail on day three. Day One, we just hung out on-board relaxing, swimming and taking in as much Vitamin C sunshine ... read more

This is not only a trip but a wonderful experience in the best part of the United States: California. I have been leaving overthere for six months in 2004 to get my toefl degree and learn English: a language difficult to learn for almost all the latin people. Take a look of S.diego, San francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon with a cute surfer like me ; ). My house was on a hill in Clairemont Dr. with a wonderful view of mission Bay. This gorgeous house was costing me 1000 $ per month but by sharing it with some housemates everything was much cheaper. The Best thing of S. Diego is its citisen a mix of American and Latin culture thanks to the proximity of Messico. What I suggest to see overthere is ... read more
