Hi everyone I have been in Mexico now for almost a week in Playa del Carmen. I spent my first 4 days relaxing on the beach and was starting to get bored so thought I better do some day trips to keep things interesting. The weather has been brilliant every day and of course I got burned to a crisp on day one and only now does it not hurt to sit down. The fake tan from NYC has certainly washed off so I am working on my own now. Slow process. Yesterday I went to see Chichen Itza which are Mayan Ruins. It is rumoured that the Mayan´s were actually aliens as they were so advanced and mathematically brilliant. They came up with the zero and the negative and positive numbers either side way back ... read more

After getting soaked and a bit saddle sore in San Cristobal we decided to hit the beautiful Carribbean coast early and await Gemma´s arrival... Lucky for us we bumped into someone we met last year on holiday who kindly put us up in a really clean and comfortable hotel at a very discounted rate (hostel prices!)...and more importantly, in the heart of all the night life and fun... With only 1 minute to the beautiful beach with white sand and light blue seas we managed to spend a good few days swimming and sunning, making the most of it all and getting excited about Gemma´s arrival! Gemma arrived on the 13th June and we took her straight to the beach to enjoy an ice cold Chelada (beer with fresh lime, ice and salt around the rim ... read more

After having such an amazing experience in Chiapas, we couldn´t help feeling a little disappointed with Playa. Lots of tourists, crappy tex mex food and expensive prices just aren´t our thing. Having said that, we were pretty excited to be here as this was the place we were meeting our mates, Su & Adrian. We are pleased to report the four of us survived a slightly problematic snorkelling and sailing trip. You think you can´t go wrong sailing and snorkelling in the carribean. Turned out to be a bit of a comedy of errors starting with Francisco (our Mexican amigo) having to paddle the hobiecat with one of our flippers on his hand as there was not a single fart of wind (bowels in perfect motion at this stage of the game!). Once we finally arrived ... read more

Touched down in Cancun and I vaguely remembered the airport from my past venture into the area during spring beak of 02'. One thing I do remember from that trip was being scammed on a taxi ride, so I strategized to get the cheapest transport possible into Playa, which was a public bus for about $8. However it was a packed bus, I was the only moron who couldn’t get a seat. I'm not much of an attention seeker so it was somewhat of an uncomfortable ride. Anyway. The weather reports were forecasting clouds and rain, I can't stand Weather.com's tropical weather forecasts, 50% chance of thunderstorms, gutless to say the least, thaaaanks. Well weather.com was right for a change, started to rain 15 mins after I got on the beach, which kinda shook me up, ... read more

The first part of our international journey began with a cruise on the Disney Magic. It was a 7 night / 8 day trip to 3 different countries. We sailed on Feb 12th from Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship holds approximately 2700 guests, 1000 crew members and the Magic was built for Disney in 1998 by a ship builder in Italy. One of the officers of the ship told us that it's 1000 ft long and 10 stories high. The Magic was built for $700 million dollars. They went to great lengths to give the ship a "classic cruiseliner" look. The food ,service and entertainment was second to none which partially explains the few pounds we put on during the trip. Disney has designed a perfect cruise experience for families. We were very lucky to celebrate ... read more
