Until Our England & France Trip
We have been back home for a week or so now. We usually write our travel blog while at our destinations. But since Facebook is our main communication tool with our friends and families and because this trip was very short, we just did not have time to write our travel blog. Nonetheless, we want to document our trip and publish our pictures here in the travel blog so that 5 or 10 years from now, we can look back and remember what we did while on this trip. Here are some of the highlights from our Caribbean trip. Day 1, September 1st, 2011 - Saint Martin: We arrived in St Martin around 2 pm local time. After checking in to our hotel, we went to Sunset Beach Bar at Maho beach and watched the planes

As a result, we weren't able to keep up with the blog as well as we had been able to in Asia. Our Asian trips usually included a bit of R&R but this trip was go, go, go! Day 7 - May 25 - Rome, Italy... Today, we used our second day in Rome to explore more of the city. Rome is a big city with narrow alley ways and winding paths. It can be difficult to find your way but once you figure out a few main streets, the city becomes much easier to navigate. We visited inside the Coloseum for a couple of

So relaxing... But on to Rome. We arrived at our hotel in Rome about 2:00 pm. My first impression of Rome is that it is a big city and very hectic with winding roads that are make finding places a real feat. So many tourists every where you look - all with maps in hand and puzzled looks on their faces. We were right out there in the mix. Rome stands in sharp contrast to the relaxing vibe of Sorrento. We spent the day visiting many of the popular sites including Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Plaza Navona where we had lunch, then on to

Since we had done most of the towns close to Sorrento, we decided to head back to Naples to visit the Archaeological Musem of Napoli which hold most of the artifics from the Pompei site we visited yesterday. The musem also holds many statues from varous periods and paintaing from the 12th century. Once we were done with the museum, we walked toward the Castle that we had visited previously. We had lunch and desserts from a well known cafe near plaza Realto. We are now back at the hotel to finish up this blog then clean up and head out for a nice last dinner here at Sorrento. Tomorrow we will travel to Rome where we are staying for 5 days

Capri is like most of the Amalfi coast in that it is dramatic cliffs with a town or two build into the side of them. Our favorite part of Capri was taking the chairlift up to the top of Anacapri. The ride was so peaceful and relaxing as you slowly rise through very green, lush, gardens and smell various flowers as you make your way to the top. From the top of the chairlift, you could see just about all of Capri island. We then walked through Anacapri and Capri itself which was filled with souvenir shops, geloto stands, and resturants.

At least we are now caught up on our sleep! Pompeii was great. So much to see there - all the while looking up at the active volcano that caused all the damage. We spent about 4 hours there and still didn't see everything. Then it was on to Naples. From all I had heard, I thought that Naples was going to be one big trash bin with unsavory characters at every corner. We walked around the city for several hours and encountered neither. I think the army had came in last week and cleaned up a lot of the trash.

Since our Hotel breakfast was not served until 7 am, we went for a walk to check out Sorrento Harbor where usually people take a ferry to Capri Island. We now know where to catch on the ferry to Capri... After breakfast, we went to buy our bus tickets at the train station where we begin our bus trip from Sorrento to Amalfi, then Ravello and finally a stop at Positano on our way back to Sorrento. Which town do we like the most? As for me, I like Positano even though all of the places that

We begin our journey at noon from San Diego where we took a flight from San Diego to Los Angeles and then Los Angeles to Rome, then took a train from Rome airport to Rome Termini train station where we then took another train to Napolis Centrale and then another train from Napolis to Sorrento and finally a taxi to the hotel. What a day of traveling! We arrived at Sorrento around 6:00 pm. My first impression of Sorrento was WOW! What a beautiful town. After we checked in to our hotel, we walked around and had dinner at the main square. What a relaxing way to end the day. We met a nice lady on the plain from LAX to Rome who

After our usual breakfast at our hotel, we set out to see more of the city. We used their subway system yesterday and found it to be an easy way for us to get around. So, we took a subway to the Retro/Downtown area and walked from their to the San Telmo area which is mostly known for its antigues. While exploring the area, we ran into a friend from San Diego. We knew he was going to be in town but did not expect to just run into him on the street in such a big cty with millions of people. We arranged to meet up with him and his
