The countdown begins once again for my eventual departure, from Sudbury and from Canada, and my return to China. The nation that i have grown to love and understand. With so many wondrous sites to behold and so many places to see and experience, I am looking to experience them. My goal this time around is to see the vastness of the area in the northern area of China. I must admit being back in Canada seeing family and friends that I have not seen in ages, seeing the new people in their lives. The loves they have fostered and family that they have created has given me a renewal of faith sort of speak. That the world isn't a dark and desolate place as I once thought it was. But I am envious of those ... read more

Now you know some of the local tourist locations, now its time to show you what its like through the eyes of a Sudbury native. And no i am not talking about a native Indian, a Sudbury person. Some would say Sudbury is not that good, while others say its the greatest city in Northern Ontario. Me personally, a bit of both, there is good and bad in this city. Beauty and the beast side of this fair city. Like any city you go to the good and bad parts. and within each area of the city you will see both beauty and decay. I suppose what it boils down to is which side you wish to remember. The tourists do wish to remember the good and wonder of the city. as for some of the ... read more

Sudbury, Ontario, I am happy to say is my hometown. For those who know it and have seen it know that there isnt much to do in the city. unless your passing through as a tourist. Being a tourist there are a wide variety of things to see and do. Well, a brief history of Sudbury. There are 160,000 people living in the city, at least when the last census was done back in 2006. It is the largest city in the Northern Ontario region by population, and the 24th largest metropolitan area in Canada. By land area, it is the largest city in Ontario, and the seventh largest municipality by area in Canada. Sudbury is on the Canadian (Precambrian) Shield. With 330 lakes within its boundaries, Sudbury has more lakes than any other municipality in ... read more

It was a full day’s drive from Ottawa to Sudbury on Saturday. We arrived at supper time. We spent the first night in a hotel in Sudbury. Using Claude’s points we stayed in the very nice and very new Homewood Suites for just $5. It was great having a room with a separate bedroom from the boys so we could get some work done in the evening after they went to bed and they could watch cartoons in the morning while we relaxed. Sunday (Claude’s Birthday), we spent the morning at Dynamic Earth, which is the interpretive center at the Big Nickel lookout. The boys remembered it from past visits and wanted to go back. We did the underground mine tour again this time. Marc decided that he was scared to go underground but we told ... read more

This entry will be rather long, because it will take some time to sort out all the feelings and proper thoughts in a sensible fashion. When I arrived in Canada, The Vancouver International Airport, and disembarked (meaning got off the plane) from the plane, this was the first time in close to 4 years that I had set foot in my home country. A strange feeling washed over me, an unknown feeling, a feeling of guilt, perhaps, or was it me just being relived to be home. Although, I still had a long journey ahead of me, but today it seems shorter. Going across the country seemed trivial compared to going half way around the world to find yourself. I went through customs, like every person from every plane that lands from an international destination. So ... read more

I started writing when I was in my teens around 15-16 years old which is about two-thirds of my life time so far. They were just the begins of stories that I couldn't think of how to continue writing what I wanted to say. From a few of those ideas came my first full novel ... it was bad even if the basic story was sound but it sparked a passion in me to write and tell stories to make people happy. From that first horrid novel came a sequel just as badly written with a little more of a thoughtful story line. The third part began midway through writing the second half where even the story started sounding weak but the writing itself had improved a bit. This was how it began for me with ... read more

THE BASICS We left Ottawa on Thursday, July 22 and arrived back in the U.S. today, July 28. We had generally glorious weather the whole time - sometimes a bit hot, but sunny and fresh. Ontario is HUGE. We only drove across the southern part of it, but the rest of it on maps is awesome. The terrain we traveled varied - some areas were forested, some had plenty of rock showing, and some were idyllic farmland. When hilly, just gently rolling ones. We followed the north shore of Lake Huron, including the large Georgian Bay which locals claim should be the sixth Great Lake. THE FLUFF - We have been playing cat and mouse with various summer festivals and fairs. Generally, we are not looking for entertainment and we would prefer to avoid the mob ... read more

Day 101 celebration in Chilliwack. Very nice crowd. Met a guy from Stratford who used to coach Dan and Mike(Hank's nephews) in hockey. Small world. Day 102 Langley. Crowds are getting bigger and bigger! Day 103 New Westminster. One of our not so good days. Everything that could go wrong that morning, did. It felt like day 14 when we did our first celebration! We could still laugh about it later! We moved into a RV dealership for the rest of the trip. Called it Torch Village. Nice RV's. Lot's of fun here! Day 104 North Vancouver (my birthplace). Day 105 Coquitlam. Had to be up at 4am. Ow! Last celebration for B team. Rained the whole time, but lots of hugs, tears, laughs, dancing and singing! Went to the final celebration in Vancouver that night. ... read more

First day on Via train 001 to Winnipeg and all I can say is holy SHIT, I woke up in a Christmas card. Violet sky, black lakes, snow, snow, snow... The train has an OBSERVATION BUBBLE, my new favourite place. My fellow travellers all seem hospitable despite their being wizened crazies. The train attendants remind me of Peter Sellers, each of them. Utterly despise my Hitachi piece of sh*t camera which refuses to do what I want it to (refuses to be a Canon). If Kian (old favourite camera) was here I'd be in heaven. As is, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with every botched photo op. This place is beyond awesome, it's been snowy woodlands since dawn and it just keeps rollin'. Elated. *** Hornepayne (!!!), 3pm I'm better friends with the Hitachi after a couple ... read more

The Fall Fair at Anderson Farm was a great success. Because of amalgamation, (thank you Mr. Harris) this heritage site is now under the auspices of the Greater City of Sudbury ... as are all the other small museums in this northern area. Anderson Farm lies in the small town of Lively. This town used to belong to INCO ... it was a mining town and all the residents paid $30 mas o menos a month rent and worked for the nickel company. When the company was selling off the old houses some tenants did not have the $30,000, mas o menus, to buy their abode. A few years ago INCO was sold to VALE from Brazil .... the workers have been on strike for three months and widows bonuses are threatened. The Fall Fair was ... read more
