Hello from the Prairies! We were in Winnipeg for such a long time that it was great to start heading west again! The temps have been freakishly warm out here! The first place we stopped was a little community called Elie. We had 3 MB's there one of which was the mother of Tim McClain. I'm sure everyone will remember the horrific event 3 years ago on the Greyhound bus when Tim was murdered and decapated. Debbie was one of the strongest women I have met. Her anger at the system has made her this way. Vince Li was found NCR (not criminally responsible) and also doubles for "no criminal record". He will be released very soon. She is fighting the system to change the laws. She has some incredible stories of other cases that were ... read more

Brrrrr.....Hi all! Leaving Ontario we finally saw the sun, but we had to pay for it dearly with sub-zero temperatures! We had our end of day celebration in a small town east of Winnipeg called Ste. Anne. After the celebration we headed into Winnipeg. Our hotel was right downtown on Portage very close to Main. The following two days were non-relay days. We reluctantly ventured outdoors to do some maintenance jobs and some accessability research for our Global Accessability Map. www.rickhansenglobalaccessibilitymap.comThe temps were -30 degrees before the windchill! After the two days the relay started back up again in Ste. Anne bringing the Medal to the Forks in Winnipeg. Still very cold! Rick is back with us. It is great to have him on the road with us again! We had great entertainment at our End ... read more

Well, part 2 begins! We were all very excited to get back to work on the Relay. We are a small road team as the communites are small therefore the number of Medal Bearers are small. Lots of time to really enjoy the places we go. Thunder Bay and area was great! As we moved on we finally started to get the winter it should be up here. We have travelled through many small communities but have been received with great excitement, warmth and appreciation! When we reached Ignace, the temps finally plummetted! We went from +3 to -17 degrees in the same day! Upsula Public School was alot of fun! The whole school came out and joined in with the 3 students who were chosen to be Medal Bearers. There are 17 students in all, ... read more

Happy New Year everyone! Well Hank and I just finished our Christmas vacation. We started with a yummy Christmas Eve dinner at the Savile's in St. Mary's with all of our children, spouses and grandchildren. Hank and I were very fortunate to be able to spend the night there and wake up bright and early to watch Alanna and Jacob open up their presents from Santa! We spent the rest of Christmas day with John, Julie and the kids. Another great dinner! Boxing Day was hosted this year by the Corns. Lots of friends, family, food and bevies as usual! The next day Hank and I headed up to Chatsworth where we rented the Chatty Farmhouse for 10 days. It was very nice and well equipped. It even came with our own toboggan hill. I have ... read more

Moving on west and north was quiet. Our Medal Bearer groups became quite small, but no less as difference makers! We found that the smaller the communites got, the more excited they were about having us. Esanola put on a fabulous dinner for us. Blind River put on a community pot luck for us! When we arrived in Sault Ste. Marie we were whisked away to the Tomie family for a yummy festive dinner with Adriana, Lary, Erin and Lary's mom and sisters. The next relay day, Erin did her 300 metre segment. She was nominated by Hank. After Sault Ste. Marie, we moved onto Wawa. Everyone was excited to get there as we had planned "Wawapalooza" in honor of Pat and Eric's birthdays. We had teams or 2 or 3 and had to create an ... read more

Hello from Sudbury! After a long stay in Kitchener, we headed to Orangeville. We were able to swing it between my boss, my BFF and I to have Carol ride along with me in the Motorhome. Hank and I started this week driving vehicles on the main convoy. After the incredible End of Day Celebration that Orangeville put on with us, Hank and I and 4 other team mates went to the Rowntrees for a fabulous deep fried everthing dinner, drinks and as always, lots of laughs. Thank you again Rowntrees and Smiths for your hospitality. I got to have a little visit with Hemi while I was there! Smiths are doing a great job fostering our little guy! He looked great and very happy! After a short visit in Orangeville, we carried on the Relay ... read more

Hi friends and family! Southwestern Ontario has been very busy. I finally have some time to make an entry. We have still been blessed with very good weather. A couple of days of rain and a couple of snowfalls is all that we have had to endure so far! Temps are getting cooler, but it is climatizing us for the inevitable! We are continuing to meet amazing people and communities. We are still seeing places for the first time even in Ontario! Again, mostly pics with some explanations. Enjoy and looking forward to the 2 week break at Christmas! Love Weedie and Jeepa... read more

Hi all! Going to shorten up the blog a little by just entering photos with comments. I think the photos are probably the best part anyway. This way, hopefully I can update more often. Hank and I are really excited to be so close to home. Hoping we get a chance to see everyone soon! Hugs, Weedie and Jeepa xoxo... read more

Hi again! I know it has been awhile since I updated our journey but I couldn't get into my blog account for some strange reason. Also, I am going to miss a small segment of the last of Quebec because I was without a camera for a few days. We had some amazing experiences from Montreal to Gatineau. After our day of work in St. Jerome, one of our team members arranged a team dinner at a "Sugar Shack". The maple syrop farm was really cool. I wish I had pictures. We had a traditional dinner served to us which included alot of maple syrop. Our first course was pea soup. Mom and Dad, I actually ate it and enjoyed it! Fresh baked bread, pork pate, pickled onions and beets, deep fried bacon, maple hot dogs, ... read more
