We spent Civic bank holiday here in Canada up in Killbear park about 2 hours north of Toronto. Bears. Black Bears. We wanted to up our 'Canadianisms' and ended up Canadian canoeing and bear hunting - see attached photos. It was early morning and as the sun began to burn away the mist a feeling of anticipation gripped the campsite. What was supposed to be an ordinary day was to turn into something quite extraordinary before long... ...Driving to the canoe hire place, we were suddenly blocked off by a rangers vehicle that screeched to a halt in front of us - the ranger emerged armed with a paintball shotgun and rolled off the track into the undergrowth. A black bear appeared in the woodland and began to scurry away. As the ranger pursued, I left ... read more

Day 63. 18,319Km Home again home again. I got up just after 1100hrs and wrote my entries for the last couple days. Dad still has dial-up so I had to wait till I got home to post them. Mom has always cooked a big meal for Sunday lunch and today was no different. She puts the roast in the oven before they leave for church so it is ready when they get home. I can smell it now as I am writing this. After lunch dad had to go play at a funeral so I chatted with mom for a bit and then took off. I called my friend Murray in Baden to see if he was home and stopped there for a visit. He was working on his front walkway so I grabbed a shovel ... read more

It's been a whole month since I left London Heathrow airport back for Canada, and I can honestly say that I miss Europe so much. and am more than ready to go back again next year! Here are some final thoughts that i jotted down a month ago on the plane back to Toronto.... -------------------------------------------------- As i sit on the plane, I think about all the new things I've done this trip, all the new things i saw, and the new people i met. Not only that though, i saw friends who i had not seen in quite a long while, and talking to them, it was like no time had passed at all! I really do love travelling! The adventures, the challenges, the freedom. It's definitely an amazing feeling. Though i'm excited to go home, ... read more

I've got the trailer pretty much loaded up. Something made me measure the drop down bed and I realized it is a queen so I had to get sheets. I've tested strapping down the bike and have my 150+ litres of Pepsi secured. Still waiting on the board from Mike to mount the TV.... read more

Hello from a soon to be adventurer Michelle's First Blog oh the places you'll go If you didn't already guess, this is my first ever, online, personal, accesible, up-to-date, candid blog Tonight Leslie and I head out to Europe, a continent I've heard a lot about, but have never ventured into because I've been (seriously) busy. The time is right, now! Having just graduated engineering, this trip has kept me equally as occupied in preparing for it... ho humm.... I've had about a week or less between my last exam and tonight's takeoff! Nevertheless, where would I be without my knights in shining armour to save the day and plan many spectacular adventures, them being my travel mates, Annie, Leslie, Ruby, and Karebear (Karen).. and of course Sophie for so generously allowing me to bunk at ... read more

T-minus 1 day til Eurotrip 2009! So, similar to two years ago, i'm going to try to keep up a blog about the europe travels, just for memory sake (because if i don't write about it, chances are i'll forget about the whole trip in a few months time.), and so that my mum and dad know that i'm still alive and kickin'. hopefully i'll be able to find time and internet access throughout the weeks. basically i'll be sacrificing naps to hog hostel computers and write! whoooo! sleep is for the weak. SO the plan: Who? Michelle, Ruby, Annie, Karen, meee! Where? London -- Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini) -- London -- Dublin -- London (Clearly, i love London) When? May 2 to the 19th, yay! anyway, once again - i hope you guys enjoy reading ... read more

T-minus a few hours and a couple of days. 5 days to be precise. My math isnt that great anymore.. so we'll have to make do with me rounding up to the nearest day. I'm almost ready. SOO close. I need to get a new cell phone for france.. which SHOULD be a good idea. Cancel my existing cell phone. Make copies of my picture. Get a haircut. and oh yea, PACK! I dont know why im not packing. Packing makes it seem real. TOO real. We found a house that we are gonna go see on tues. Hope it works out. Fingers crossed. I'm supposed to be recording my emotions on here. SO here goes. It's a jambalaya of excitement and nervousness, pure fear and fantasies. I've always dreamt of travelling europe- but i somehow ... read more

So close... ... T minus a few weeks So, let's see.. i have my visa, my paperwork done, applied for summer courses.. and somewhat of an apartment. I'm totally still freaked out. Somebody brought up something today that makes a good point.. my marks! I would like to run off to grad school at some point in my life.. i just dont know HOW. Would this year count... or no? bah! My marks are by no means crap, but i just havent gotten there yet. Taking my mind of this as well as other things is the fact that i somehow.. somehow got in charge of planning the trip to Munich for Oktoberfest.. wohoo.. I hope i'm able to balance between studies and travel.. I feel stressed.. and i dunno if it's healthy stress or not.. ... read more
