A glimpse of Mississauga Toronto Ontario Canada on the last day of 2007 and first day of 2008. I woke up early in the morning just to find out that outside of the house is already covered with snow! It was an amazing experience to touch the smoothness and whiteness of fresh snow - a white mantle in all over the place of Mississauga. While writing this journal in my other travel journal's site, Im still blowing my nose after taking the photos posted below. At first, I can bear the coldness, but later on sneezing followed with running nose. This is my first ever white Xmas but not my first experience with snow. The first encounter with snow was in 2003 when I visited Finland and Sweden. Hope you enjoy the images and maybe someday ... read more

Den første rigtige weekend. Nyder at kunne sove længe.

A flight from San Francisco to Toronto takes us to Alex's cousins, who live near Mississauga on the shores of Lake Ontario. In the space of five days the temperature, for us, has plummeted from 25 degrees above freezing to 15 below. A change we are sartorially unprepared for! Thankfully we borrow some heavy coats, but I still to pop by Wal-mart to pick up some thermal long-johns. It's just TOO COLD! We spend a lovely few days being treated like royalty and gorging on Krispy Kreme doughnuts - surely one of life's guiltiest pleasures. Alex's cousin Jaki takes us on a little jaunt to Niagara-on-the-Lake - home of Inniskillin icewine - and then to the Falls themselves. The spray has coated everything in a thick layer of ice - it is quite a spectacular sight! ... read more

Got a couple days left. It's about freaking time. Didn't intend to wait this long to leave but plans change quickly, as I'm sure they will along my travels. That's why I've got a plane ticket with an open return date and one night's accomodation booked. Other than that, just a loose plan and general direction in my head that I'm secretly hoping won't come to reality. Spontaneity's the key this time round. Ok, for those who didn't really know that I was leaving, here's the abbreviated overview. I'm just taking a few months off to travel and ideally volunteer/work in South America. I'll be flying to Santiago on Sunday and then going overland through Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia with some close Aussie friends. After that, I venture solo and everything's up in the air. Commonly ... read more

I had no intentions of doing a travel blog. I actually tried not to. But I sold out, much like getting a cel phone last year. It's just more efficient than sending out mass emails, 95% to people who don't care. And it'll be easier to answer the proverbial "What did you do / Where did you go / How was it" questions when I get home. Plus someone said I'll appreciate it later on. I just looked at my current photo sites and finally conceded. I'll try and update this once a week. That sounds fair. Daily updates = way too bored. Monthly updates = essay entries. No entries = screw computers, I've got better things to do OR prep the rescue teams and ransom money. Leave me some comments if you have time. Word ... read more

Parting is such sweet sorrow Well, this entry will be very short as it is now just past midnight, and Joe and I have to get up at 5 to get going to the airport to fly out. I can't believe how quickly the past few days have flown by! I'm proud of myself for not crying when saying good bye to so many people the past few weeks. I have to say, the kids are the worst for me...back at the beginning of August, saying good-bye to the neice and nephews, trying to explain to them that they would be done another year of school before we saw them again...my landlords 4-year-old made me cry when we moved out because he hugged me so tight and wouldn't let go of me! and tonight saying bye ... read more
