Mississauga Travel Blogs

Background: A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

We've done the Planes and the Automobiles, and tomorrow we embark on the Train part. We leave Toronto for New York onboard Amtrak for 12-ish hours. We are looking forward to this next leg of the journey, but are also sad to leave behind Diane, Tanya, Claudia, Jasmine and Claude (who we didn't see, but did eat his yummy food!). We were spoiled rotten by Diane and her family. We've eaten enough food to see us through a lean month if necessary! Thank you to Diane, Claude, Tanya and Claudia! On Thursday we visited Niagra Falls - first time for me [View Full Entry]

We left Calgary with a few tears and a lot of hugs. (... and more luggage than we need!) Thank you to Mum and Dad for taking us to the airport and to Mark for coming to see us off too. The flight was uneventful and we arrived in Toronto safely. Peter's cousin Diane met us at the airport and graciously opened her home up to us. Her hospitality is second to none - thank you Diane!! We are due to leave on Saturday morning, but if Diane keeps treating us so well, we may never leave! This is the first [View Full Entry]

A glimpse of Mississauga Toronto Ontario Canada on the last day of 2007 and first day of 2008. I woke up early in the morning just to find out that outside of the house is already covered with snow! It was an amazing experience to touch the smoothness and whiteness of fresh snow - a white mantle in all over the place of Mississauga. While writing this journal in my other travel journal's site, Im still blowing my nose after taking the photos posted below. At first, I can bear the coldness, but later on sneezing followed with running nose. This [View Full Entry]

Birth of the Blog

North America » Canada » Ontario » Mississauga
I had no intentions of doing a travel blog. I actually tried not to. But I sold out, much like getting a cel phone last year. It's just more efficient than sending out mass emails, 95% to people who don't care. And it'll be easier to answer the proverbial "What did you do / Where did you go / How was it" questions when I get home. Plus someone said I'll appreciate it later on. I just looked at my current photo sites and finally conceded. I'll try and update this once a week. That sounds fair. Daily updates = way [View Full Entry]

See you soon

North America » Canada » Ontario » Mississauga
Got a couple days left. It's about freaking time. Didn't intend to wait this long to leave but plans change quickly, as I'm sure they will along my travels. That's why I've got a plane ticket with an open return date and one night's accomodation booked. Other than that, just a loose plan and general direction in my head that I'm secretly hoping won't come to reality. Spontaneity's the key this time round. Ok, for those who didn't really know that I was leaving, here's the abbreviated overview. I'm just taking a few months off to travel and ideally volunteer/work in [View Full Entry]
