Talitha is Doing really good with her Driving,,, Yellowknife is a real music town... There seems to be more facilities for live music here than in Kamloops. I went out on Saturday night and watched some performers. I love live music, I miss the live music that I got to sing and dance to every sunday. We have a mandalyn at our house. I hope the girls learn to play it. That would be great! ... read more

So the weather turned cold this week. It rained for three days. Just a drisly, misty rain. Enough that I was damp when I got to work. And cold. I wore my gloves during the walk to work on Wednesday. The weather dried up for Friday when a bunch of great people from work helped me move a bedroom suite out of one friends house into my place. It's kind of funny how the stuff gets shuffled around from place to place as people come and go from this town. At Garage sales today we got a mattress for Dakotah. Two down, One to go. The sun came out this afternoon. Boy does that ever warm you up inside. I went in to the doctor today to get my elbow taken care of and will soon ... read more

Monday Morning, I took some photos to show you how pretty it is around this city of Yellowknife. I took these as I was walking Daisey this morning just out behind our house. There are several lakes within the city limits of Yellowknife and they are clear and beautiful. There are lots of small trees around, mostly pine and aspen, and birch growing between the bulges of bedrock. The leaves are just starting to turn colour. Apparently, when this lake freezes over we’ll be able to walk across it to the stores across the way. It’s not too cold out yet. I walked to work this morning. It took under ten minutes, and its about another ten for Dakotah to get to school. That will be far better than warming up the truck, although we are ... read more

We had a lot of excitement here in Yellowknife this weekend as we attempt to Stuff up our home. Friday night I located a tv for sale on YK trader. We went over there and got the nearly new 27inch TV, A nearly new printer/scanner, garbage can and broom and dustpan set for $30. Then.. I went out to the few garage sales in town on Saturday morning gaining more good stuff then came home got the girls (they wouldn’t get up early enough). We went to a free pancake breakfast put on by the school board and then we headed to the world famous Yellowknife Dump. I had no idea how fun the dump can be. It was like shopping at a second hand store that gets shipments in every five minutes. There were ... read more

Well we made it here, About 3pm we arrived. The drive was pretty, but very much the same for a long long time. And, for anyone travelling up here. It would have been really nice to have one of those signs that says " Last Gas station for 250km..." at High Level. Second call to CAA since I signed up. All about this trip. We overnighted in Hay River. That was a late night and my stomach is feeling a little queesy from all the travel but the girls and pets are doing fine. We're finally here, the odometer says 2100km and I reset it just out of Littlefort. The 60th parallel didn't have a line to stand over. We would have done the one foot in -one foot out photo for sure... But couldn't. Here ... read more

Hello, all! We have enjoyed the last part of our journey with our lovely new-used car. We saw Faro, Keno and Mayo, three little towns in the Yukon with boom and bust histories of mining for gold, zinc and silver. We saw a cow moose and two calfs , ate wild strawberries, raspberries, saw an abandoned mine, travelled gravel roads, camped at some very pretty campgrounds...it is nice to be on the road again! Heading up the Liard Highway just before we cross Northern BC into the Northwest Territories, after seeing mountain goats, moose, black bears, foxes, caribou....we saw the most elusive of all animals. It was black, long tail, moved like a cat, and was very large! It was a black cougar! After confirming with a local man in Fort Simpson that cougars come in ... read more

Well, we get ready to leave the deep freeze to start the trip to Australia. A few pictures for you to enjoy the -40ºC that we've had for well over a week now. It's been awful and even Calgary at -20ºC tonight will be a nice reprieve. Can't wait to get on the plane to Calgary... read more
