So I've decided to go to Greece after all. It's more expensive to get to.. but when you get there, it's cheaper. And I really am looking forward to some fun in the sun, so I think it's going to be the perfect place to go. Who knows when I will be able to get back to Greece anyway? Now, there are a few things that I love about Greece. Firstly, I love the food. Greece has the traditional Greek food items that we all know and love, the fresh seafood, calamari, tzatziki, and all of that, but some things you wouldn't think of. Like Greek pastries. Not just spanakopita, but cheese pies, and potato pies. And it's cheap. There's also Gyros sold on every corner (basically the Greek version of a kebab), and you can ... read more

After 12 days of sitting and being driven around I was started to go haywire...I was starting to behave like lorraine from mad tv. (reference youtube) So if I didn't have enough of three coffee's I decided I needed a fourth. So we went to Pikes place...the original Starbucks...the first day of creation! How exciting. We got in line to order coffee. We were looking at their Pike place specific merchandise. To our great dismay(Emeris) the pikes place mug had a sticky note indicating that it was sold out! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! They were completely out! I bought a iced coffee cup to sooth my emotions and a breve cafe misto. While we were waiting for our drinks...I was eaves dropping on a conversation between a lady and the cashier..."I need to return this mug" "I'll see what ... read more

My trip to India is exactly 4 months from today. No better way to celebrate than to start a Travel blog! As many of you already know, this is my dream trip. And no I am not embarking upon a 18 hour flight to find a husband or just to buy Bollywood dvds, although I a pretty sure I will buy some of the latter. This is also going to be my first trip outside North America. In fact, it will also be the longest I have ever spent away from home! I am sure it will be a challenging adventure. While I have openned this travel blogs months early, postings will probably be very sparse until departure. I do hope to do a blog posting with pictures every day of the trip! Talk soon!... read more

Well folks, this is it. I'm officially leaving on Sunday. This will likely be my last blog before I go. HOLY $#%@! I leave Sunday! That sort of hit me yesterday when I was saying good bye to my family. So today was spent madly packing and making sure I had everything I needed. I'd love to include my packing list, but the hardcore backpackers out there will probably all tell me I'm taking too much. And to that I say "I tried!". I really did. I probably went through and put back half the clothes I had originally planned to take. Not bad I think. The real space is honestly being taken up by all the other stuff aside from clothes. The mountain of drugs I was prescribed in case I need them, as well ... read more

Well the official countdown has started for a journey that will be pretty incredible. I've been looking forward to making this trip since I was about 19 and met a co-worker who just came back from Bolivia. The wild stories and pictures piqued my interest then and have held me in an iron fist ever since. My long-time friend Amy and I are travelling together for 2 months through Peru and Bolivia. I've started thinking about all kinds of things: 1. I'm a 5'10" female - will I fit through doorways, on buses or in beds? how are the locals going to handle that? 2. Amy is a vegetarian - how is Amy going to handle that? 3. We're going during the rainy season - just how WET is it really going to be? All lists ... read more

Currently researching some of the many places I could stay in Australia. As I know little about the country it might prove to be a challenge choosing where to start. I have to take into consideration several things including, where I want to work, What exactly I want to do, How do I get access to the job listings etc etc ... read more

Well, the blackberry festival wasn’t quite as exciting as we hoped. Possibly something to do with the fact that no matter how hard we looked (and boy did we look hard) we could not find the promised blackberry wine stall. We have now come to the conclusion that saying there would be alcohol was just a ruse by the organisers to get people to attend. But rest assured that we consoled ourselves with some excellent blackberry cheesecake. And some excellent blackberry pie. And some superb blackberry crumble. We would have tried the blackberry shortcake too, but we were feeling a bit sick by then! Anway, we had a very pleasant time on the Sunshine Coast. The weather there wasn’t quite as good as it gets billed: but we did see a fair amount of sunshine. We ... read more

Well, after four months of travelling; 10,583 miles; 2 Canadian Provinces, 1 Territory and 3 US states; oh, and 6,771 photographs (yes, really!) I have to hand the van back in less than 48 hrs time. So I have come back to the RV park Burnaby where I started my camping adventures on 1 May. Since I last created a blog entry, I spent a very pleasant couple of days on the Sunshine Coast. The weather there wasn’t quite as good as it gets billed: but I did see a fair amount of sunshine. I made it all the way to the end of Highway 101 (the main road that runs up the Sunshine Coast), and then I drove slowly back down again (i.e. it took four days to do 84 km), stopping at some great ... read more

Well, we survived our first night in a camper van. It actually wasn't too bad at all. It was a little on the chilly side when we woke up this morning, but all-in-all everything seems ok (for now...) Had another wet old day again today. We decided to have a wander round Burnaby Lake Park. For those of you that know Weymouth, Burnaby Lake is somewhat similar to Radipole Lake, only bigger. And with more trees. And better paths. But other than that, it's pretty much identical! (Obviously all this will be lost on those of you who have never been to Weymouth in your life...) The "lake shore" walk is about 14km long (with many of them not all that close to the shore of the lake). Despite the rain, we enjoyed the Sunday stroll. ... read more

Well, I picked up the camper van this morning, and drove all the way to Burnaby (it must be all of 10 miles from downtown Vancouver). Staying at a relatively plush RV site (it's got a pool AND a gym, so it must be posh). Feels like a tank to drive. Not quite got used to just how wide it is (8.5ft, but the cab itself is probably only just over 7ft wide, which makes it quite tricky). Backing into a space at the RV park was also a bit of a challenge... but possibly the less said about that the better. Anyway, here's a picture.... read more
