Another lazy start and a great basic breakfast supplied by the hotel. Today is a bank holiday here in UK, so everywhere is still very busy. Shops today are Tesco and Sainsbury. Between the two of them we manage to clear all the remaining items from our list. Today, we had lunch at the Toby Carvery in Crawley. As it was a Bank Holiday we got there early so that we would not have to wait for a table. The food as always was really great. Again, we did not need another meal tonight so finished of the picnic items from yesterday we have in the room.... read more

Nice breakfast offerings at the hotel was egg or bacon baps and some cakes plus hot drinks. More than enough to get us started in the morning. As today is Sunday, most of the shops do not open until 10.30am, so it was a nice opportunity to have a lay in. George´s eye is still hurting from when a fly flew into it in Singapore, so first stop today is Boots to get something for it. It turns out he has a small infection in his eye, so the pharmacist gave him some antibiotic drops and no prescription required. Next stop B&M stores. This is a new shop for us, but we hear they are good value. We were not to be disappointed. There was enough savings here to pay for suitcase one of two. Next ... read more

Geo: 51.113, -0.18312Time Check: 0725 Location: Gatwick South Terminal No 1 LoungeMuch mirth and cackling can be heard from a private booth in this "pay for" Business Class style lounge. The Stella and "PRUSSEKO " is already flowing..................a group of "Hens" celebrating a 50th Birthday and off to MARBELLLLA.......all wearing amply filled black Teeshirts with "FIESTA...SIESTA...TEQUILA......REPEAT."......depicted in silvers sequins.......are glugging away on the modern version of Lambrusco/Pomagne. I look around as various families wander about again sipping complimentary PRUSEKKO with hard nosed kids sporting those "short back and sides" haircuts you see in programs on Gypsy Knuckle Fighting......even at 6 years of age you wouldn't want to get into a fight with them!In the distance more cork popping noises can be ... read more

This holiday has been a very long time in preparation. The cruises that form the later part of the holiday were booked back in January 2016 as they were a really good deal and we did not have to pay anything until January 2017. The two cruises combined will be the biggest we have ever undertaken and will be on Norwegian Epic our favourite cruise ship. When we booked these cruises, we also managed to get a good price on a one way flight to London Gatwick with Norwegian Airlines. At the point of booking, neither of us had flown with Norwegian, but have friends that rate it very highly. They have free on board Wi-Fi too on European flights. Since booking the flights, Theresa has flown from Tenerife to Madrid return on Norwegian and could ... read more

Geo: 51.1133, -0.182914Nothing like waking to the sound of toilet waste rushing by your head. We managed to pack our bags in a confined space and the time to leave easyHotel had arrived. It didn't take long to check the room.. Credit to the staff at easyHotel. I mean, they know their hotel is just bad, but they've all been so friendly about it.We finally got our first dose of Greggs, a bakery chain in the UK. We purchased bacon rolls and OJ and a sandwich for lunch for a total £7 for the both of us. There were weekend works on the tube but didn't delay us much to Victoria Station. We waited an hour or so before catching the National Express to Gatwick airport. With an early flight to Copenhagen tomorrow at 7am, we'd ... read more

We had recently read the book of history of Nymans Garden written by Shirley Nicholson, and have been inspired to come back there in autumn in 2011. Dense fog was spread through the ground and the misty horizon was appearing when we arrived at Pinetum on 19th November. As we walked down, we found a clump of bamboo shrubs, the wooden sculptures of panda, and winding boardwalk, which attraction had been added recently. All of the garden ornaments like fountains or lanterns were covered up by green clothes and just a few flowers and roses remained flowering. Many shrubs and trees’ foliage had turned gold, red, orange, and yellow and brownish leaves were falling on the ground. As planned, we entered the Wild Garden, opposite to the formal garden. We saw a number of crimson and ... read more

Well here we are on the final countdown to our travels. In less than 48hrs we'll be on our way to the airport for a trip that's been almost two years in the making. By some miracle the majority of our traveling/wedding gear has managed to fit in our rucksacks and hand luggage and we're still under our 20kg allowance. Should be interesting when we attempt to board our Cebu Air flights to Philippines which limit you to 10kg. Arh well... something to worry about as and and when! Thailand here we come! xx ... read more

Hi Everyone - just a heads-up to let you know that we are off again on our Great Australian Adventure. We leave on 29th September and will be back on 12th December - just in time for Christmas Shopping - Oh Joy! This time, the plan is to go North to Darwin, have a look around Kakadu and then head West via Broome to Perth, and then back along the South Coast to Adelaide and Melbourne, taking in our friends on the way. It's a long, long way, but we expect most of the time will be sitting in the van burning up fuel. No idea how frequent Internet Cafe's are in this part of the world, but I will keep the blog updated as often as I can. Margaret xx... read more

Just about to have my last proper dinner before heading off for the next couple of weeks. I think I've got most of my packing done though I'm still not sure what books to take - do I really need to take a guide to Budapest? My flight's at 11.05am in the morning, so I'm thinking that getting up at 7.30 will do - it's such a blessing to live within a local bus journey of a major international airport.... read more

Well, it was going well, until BA decided to embargo the flights to Australia, so now we need to find another way to get there! The camper is purchased and languishing in Melbourne with Debbie and Ian. Lots of problems with it getting through its MOT but all is well now and we are getting really excited. We intend to leave UK on Boxing Day, arrive in Melbourne 2 days later (hopefully), sort out our bank account and then head off to Tasmania. ... read more
