Hi All, I hope you are having as good weather as we are?! It really has been lovely - I went on a VERY long walk from Freshwater to Yarmouth and back again last week after one of my class told me the walk was easy! - It was definitely NOT easy! lol but it was a lovely walk nonetheless! :) Ollie and Benji are doing well and we are going to "Benjify" the garden tomorrow so he can go out without being a daft cat and running out into the road! He is desperate to get outside with all this lovely weather. It has been lovely hearing how you are all getting on - how was Red Nose Day? what did you all dress up as? We had to go as red as we could ... read more

HI all, hope you've had a good half term? I have had a lovely time. Mrs Blowers came down to visit on Monday for a couple of days. Unfortunately, as you will see from the photos, she also brought the foggy weather with her! ;-) I showed her my school which is a LOT smaller than Coundon. She said hello to Besty and also to Shelby :-) I have posted some of the photos for you to see where she went and she took some photos she might share with you if you have time! Take care for now and let me know how you are all getting on. Miss Wood xoxo... read more

In 1862, the Needles Old Battery, known as a Victorian fort was built and used throughout both world wars. The Parade ground has been converted to the exhibition rooms. You will find two original guns, a series of articles, photos, documents in relation to the war period as well as vivid cartoons by Geoff Campion. An underground tunnel leads you to a searchlight emplacement with dramatic views over the Needles rocks. The New Battery, further up the headland, has an exhibition on the secret British rocket test undertaken during the Cold War. Alum Bay, western coastline of Isle of Wight, is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the island. The area of the Needles rocks and multicoloured cliff has been registered as an Area of Outstanding Beauty. You can ride on the lift from the ... read more

The coastal path between Freshwater and the Needles is managed by the National Trust, registered as Tennyson Heritage Coast, Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the Area of Outstanding Beauty, and offers breathtaking views of chalky cliff and rugged coastlines. Starting from Freshwater, the trail goes past the hillside where cows and rabbits are periodically grazing, myriads of blue wildflowers and buttercups spread their carpets, and you can see scattered bending trees. The coastline between Freshwater and the Needles is the place where Victorian poet, Alfred Tennyson produced a series of poems. After walking uphill, you will see the monument commemorating his achievements. It is the summit of the hill where Tennyson’s monument stands. If it’s a fine day, you’re able to see the Old Harry Rocks and Purbeck Coast at the west direction, Yarmouth and ... read more

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year holiday and are all ready to go back to schoool? lol I had a lovely time as my Mum and Dad came to visit me. Ollie and Benji didn't like so many people in the house though and hid for most of the holidays! Daft cats! We went on the Isle of Wight Steam railway on Boxing Day as my Dad loves trains and we had a lovely time. I have added some photos to show you. I hope Santa brought you everything you wanted? Let me know what your favourite present was... mine was chocolate! (as you all know! ) Take care and I look forward to hearing your stories. Hi All :)I hope you are all well and enjoying your half term! I heard about you all dressing up for arts week and it sounds fab!! We are still really enjoying ourselves down here and have had some lovely weather! I took some lovely photos of The Needles at sunset last night so thought I would share them with you. Today we went for a lovely walk up a VERY steep hill to the top of Tennyson Down which is very near my house! I am now very tired but it was such a lovely walk I thought I'd share some of the photos with you all! :) Ollie and Benji are both well and still enjoying themselves (Obviously Benji more than grumpy Ollie! lol). Hi! I finally have the phone line (and internet) connected at home and so I can update my blog and reply to your posts! Sorry it has taken me so long! :) We have managed to unpack all the boxes (just about) and explored our local area a little! Ollie and Benji have settled in really well and Ollie has even been outside on a couple of adventures! He also has been fighting with the cat next door to show him who's boss (and seems to be winning :) Benji hasn't wanted to go outside yet, but he is more of a wimp ;), he has prefered to hide in the house - his favourite hiding place is up the chimney as there is a ledge just above the fire! What a daft cat!!! I hope ... read more
