Had 3 days in Swanmore with Diana and Denzyl, lovely as always. Did the Bere Forrest to play hide and seek with Jacob, an Apple Farm, Church and saw Jane Austens house as well as The Summer House! Just back from a weekend down in the New Forrest, we set off Friday evening arriving by train into Brockenhurst about 9. Our B&B was award winning, but probably for service, certainly not for space. We were in the smallest room, but nice and cosy. I had a bit of a cough thing going on so probably woke up the entire place the following morning. We were treated to a local full English breakfast, veggie in my case. Stuffed full of local fare we headed out to hire a bike, side stepping all the horse poo. There were actually horses running up and down the main road, tehehe, they own the place. We managed to hire an excellent mountain bike and headed off. We thought we had gone the wrong way after trying to follow a ... read more

Preparation for the civil service finished for us at about 1.00 am on the Friday, having finished work that day. Tim, however, was still doing things for us until 2.30 am. We owe so much to Tim for his help in planning and logistics and without him we would have never been ready for the day. The weather for the wedding was beautiful, summer had arrived. The service was lovely and Amel was really emotional. Although we did not have big expectations for this day it turned out just beautiful and it was lovely to share it with our friends. Thank you all for your support. A big thanks to Ann (my secretary, or should I say Development Administrator!) for housing and feeding me in the days I was homeless. Likewise to Tim who kept Amel ... read more

Finally everything starts to come together! After a lot of delays and problems, primarily with passports(damn the post office) and money, almost everything is finally sorted. My flight, coaches, trains etc. are all booked and I have given Domnul Joliff(my first host) the definite date of my arrival. Exciting. Things are looking up too, in that it seems I am probably going to be able to see some of my old friends from Birmingham before I leave. ... read more

Sunday 2nd August Another opportunity to meet up with cousin Jean After preparing our own breakfast for the past few mornings we rathered looked forward to someone else doing it for us and also sampling again, the full English!! One thing we have found though is that the English B&B as opposed to say the US B&B’s we have stayed in seem a little more formal and ‘stuffy’.It may depend upon the people who are staying there at the time of course but we always try to go out of our way to engage our fellow breakfast diners in a conversation even if it is started by what the weather might be going to do or what were they going to be up to today. Our fellow diners at the Seabreeze seemed content at keeping to themselves. Maybe ... read more

This year we are off to the Netherlands and Germany Again, if you don't want to receive these email reminders then let me know and I can knock you off the list. I am not sure about the access we are going to have to the wifi network on our travels so this may be the only entry till we return in September. However, I hope we can let you know of our success in finding interesting things to see and do while we attend the International Tandem Rally in Applesha, Netherlands followed by a tour of northern Germany. We are thinking this is what we shall do but as the weather is so awful we might head straight down the the south of France to find some settled weather and sunshine. Anyway, we are now ... read more
