Hello all I have moved my travels to London to start my music course. People were drifting in all day and hung out with them for a while before heading to a University of Waterloo Alumni event at Canada House. There are apperently a lot of Waterloo grads working in England, with about 50 people showing up. It was neat talking to people that haven't been at Waterloo for as long as 20 years. Importiantly there was Free Food with drinks provided, which seriously helps the budget. Bram, Ian and I will be heading to the Dickens House museme for the morning and going to a performance of Samson tonight. I will let you know how my couse is going in a couple days. I might have started working by then. Michael... read more

Paris to London From the Contiki Guide : A chance for some last-minute shopping in Paris with a visit to a French perfume house. From Paris we drive to Calais, passing the World War 1 battlefields of the Somme. At Calais we take our cross-channel ferry to Dover to arrive in London early evening. ( Breakfast ) ... read more

Well i arrived in london after a long 14 hour plane trip from Singapore, it was 5.15am. I met Dan at the airport and we headed off to Greenwich and had some breakfast and cleaned up before heading into town on the tube to see some sites. I had a ball in London and i cant wait to get back and see some more of this great city. We were in town all day and then caught up with Bek, Dash, Michael and Nicole for dinner then it was off home for some sleep, as i had not slept more than three hours over the last 30 odd hours but i felt fine no jet lag either.........and the four cups of coffee would have helped for sure. I will tell you all more later.... read more

Well we finally arrived! Our good friend Simone O'Connor met us at Heathrow, to help us carry our 60kg of luggage back to her house in Kennington. This is where we have been living since the day we arrived along with, Steve Hunt, Breck Fairly, and Lauren O'Connor (Simone's cousin). We have been very lucky to have them put us up......and put up with us!! Our aim with this entry is to bring you up to date (well, almost) with the last 6 or so weeks that we have been in London. We have seen some cool stuff around the city, some of which you will have seen yourselves during your own travels so we won't bore you with too much detail. Here is a quick overview in rough chronological order with some pictures to go ... read more

It takes around 40 minutes to take the tube from Heathrow, into Earls Court station. Just around the corner is the Mayflower Hotel. Our room is small but comfortable. We had a delicious meal at an Indian Restaurant, very nice. It's odd seeing Policeman walking around the streets. It's a shame that we can't have them doing that at home. Apparently Chelsea won today, It seems that football fans, who have too much lager on board, are loud and obnoxious whereever you go. When we left the Train Station we came out onto Warwick Road. In front of us was Earl's Court Exhibition Centre. Kylie Minogue was putting on an "exhibition" that night. A fat guy wanted to sell us some tickets. "ooo waans a teeckit fo kylee then". We decided to watch TV instead. ... read more

Hello Everyone, well we finally made it to an internet cafe, it took us asking some woman on the train, going through Trafalgar Square, passing through the Cinema/Theatre area, then moving through the Gay/Redlight district (Soho, for those who've been), and just outside of China Town. So here we are... it has been a fantastic two days so far. As expected we were wrecked after the 9 hour flight and then 1.5 hour bus ride into London... we didn't sleep at all on the flight and it was kind of a gong not knowing what we were doing/where we were going once we got off the plane. Some guy had a sign to pick up Dopey and Sleepy but i guess it wasn't for us (although it could've been). We stayed in our first dive hostel ... read more

Just a quick note to say that we have arrived and have successfully survived the first night in London. We are staying at Nirelles (a friend or mine) for a couple of nights but there really isnt too much room to stay much longer, so at this stage we are going to stay at another friends place on thursday and are currently looking for a flat for us to hang out in for a while. Cerian (who we will be crashing with shortly) is quite keen to head out of town for the weekend this weekend so quite a possibilty of heading to Paris Prague and somewhere. Today we have updated emails and the money situation and will be going to buy me a England sim card and sign up with temp agencies etc. Gotta go ... read more

i'm back in the city now! had a great week with the family in malvern. didn't do a whole lot more than the last entry. i basically ate a lot and slept a lot!! it was fantastic! it's amazing how much you appreciate your own room - even only after a couple of weeks! now back to the delightful dorm rooms. lucky me. had a shocking trip back on the train. it was only supposed to take 2.5 hours. instead it took nearly 5 hours!! they were doing work on the tracks - lucky me. oh well i made it eventually. mary, fran, emma and robert saw me off at the station - very nice. not much fun to be leaving them. but adventures are calling. malvern is a nice little suburb with 2 main centres. ... read more

London the Grey, the wonderful wonderful Grey......... A splash of colour would not hurt the decor.... Arrived from Zurich, checked into my hostel in Bayswater, obviously designed for midgets. Lovely and clean but spacially deficient. Straight into Mark & Spencers for a cookie, salad and chicken stash then across the road into the Park.... Kensington... Hyde, can´t remember which. It was big, had lakes, monuments to Alfie and Vic, a small insubstantial palace that always looked more impressive on TV and a swag of tourists. Continued along and saw Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner, Big ben, Millenium Wheel and stayed out walking until midnight taking late night piccies of the sights and getting myself completely lost. Cutting across Hyde Pk in the middle of the night certainly opened up the opportunity to meet some interesting characters. ... read more

Well, our time in England has run out. We will miss England, and all the fine people that have made our visit here, one to remember. We met family, we've made new friends, and the memories we bring back home will last a lifetime. Cheerie-O to all, we have every intention of returning in the future. To paraphrase the great Frank Sinatra; Thanks for the memories, Of things we can’t forget, Journeys on a jet, Tea with clotted cream and A ride on Eurostar, How lucky we are. We are very lucky indeed, to have such wonderful family and friends. We're off to the continent of Europe, London to Paris by way of the TGV (train à grande vitesse, French for "high-speed train"). Stay tuned, we'll report from Belguim, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the ... read more
