Went to the Premiere of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in Leicester Square. I only went to see Alan Rickman who didn't turn up, but it was quite interesting to see how it all works anyway. I did feel a bit sorry for the woman who were all very skimpily clad in the cold while all the blokes got to wear suits. Was a bit of a b-list movie so didn't get to see anyone overly famous. And it takes the fun out of stalking when you get told when and where the celebrities are going to be and they parade in front of you.... read more

Caught the bus into the city today and am now at the royal national contiki hotel. Met up with 8 people from my tour so far, have our meeting at 7pm so will meet the rest then. Leave at 6am tomorrow, so will try to have an early night tonight. Had our pre tour meeting at London Coffee and met heaps more people. There's a few South Africans, Canadians, Americans, Kiwis and of course lots of Aussies. Our tour manager is Amanda and our driver's name is Marty. Went to Tesco with Nat and Brigitte and got some pasta for dinner, then met up with the others at the London pub for a beer. My room mates are a Japanese girl who's going on the discovery hotel tour tomorrow, and I haven't met the other girl, ... read more

Im glad that so many people are checking out this site, unfortunately i dont have enough time to respond to everyone, sorry guys especially with issues arising in Dubrovnik where i may have to skip that flight and write off €64 which really sucks. I didnt think a Croatian hostel would be booked this far in advance, especially in April. Oh well... Well I went out with Ken and got some sushi for dinner which was decent and not too expensive, and then went out got a beer at Midas and then picked up a beer on the way to the bar, gotta love no open container laws. Well last night was my first *real* night out in London. I went with Ken, Craig ( a new aussie) and a French guy. We went to this ... read more

So last night not much was going on and honestly my legs were killing me from the walk to the Tower of London. I chilled in the common room with the Irish guy Ken and watched a couple movies until about 12:30am and got some Burger King, £4.55 or almost $9 for a chicken sandwich, quite the deal i must say. The burgers are dirt cheap but im not getting any ground beef here in the U.K. with the mad cow disease and all. Actually most people here seem to be staying away from it. I got up this morning around 12 as I think I slept through my alarm clock...oops. But I showered up and headed down to the common room agin to watch a bit of tv before heading out. Until today ive gone ... read more

Went to Greenwich with Sonya today. Saw the meridian line (GMT) and went into the observatory. It was pretty packed, so we just wandered in and realised too late that the only way to get out was to go right through. Took some photos for Sonya's photography course at college of flowers and 'textures' and stuff. Went to look through the markets in the village, but most of them are only open on a Sunday. Had some Thai for lunch, which was nothing after being in Thailand - think I've ruined Thai food for myself. Had chips, peas, salad and soy sauages for dinner - think I'm turning into a vegetarian. ... read more

Hey guys, Just so you know im pretty sure ive been getting all of your messages. Well the other night after I posted and went back to my room but since I hadn't met anyone it was a little lonely to be honest. So I went to a backpackers bar down the street called "The Midas Touch" I sat around for about 10 minutes and recognized some people from the hostel earlier that day so I jsut went over and asked if they minded if I joined them. Of course they didnt so we all hung out at the bar until it closed at 12:00!!! I dont know what is up with that but the bars have to close at 12 unless you go to a nightclub which is open until whenever apparently theres a loophole ... read more

Well everyone i made it to London... Right now i'm sitting at the hostel internet cafe after taking a couple power naps since i only got to sleep a couple hours on the flight over since the seats were pretty uncomfortable. I got to Paris around 5:50am and had to transfer from terminal 2C to 2F. So I got packed onto the bus but when the door went to open at my stop is caught my foot in the door and the driver started yelling at me in French...so that was fun. The flight over to london was alright, quick, about an hour. Once i landed I went through customs and headed for the underground to get on the picadilly line. I got to the ticket station at 9:10 which was still peak time which runs ... read more

5th April 2005 South-East London, England. I've arrived! I had so very many last-minute half-forgotten things to write about Thailand. But now it is all in the past, forgotten. London fills my head to overflowing. I had thought it was Spring here (again making incorrect assumptions about the weather of another country, lah), which it actually is, but that doesn't stop it from being possibly the coldest place I've ever been. I stepped off the plane from Bangkok in my ghekko top and a light-weight skirt.... and with all the jackets and woolies packed deep within the bowels of my packpack. A very bad decision. But the sun was shining, and I survived the "tubes" and buses and the walking to my hostel with my unbelievably heavy bags, and so all was good with the world. ... read more

Ok, so here's the deal: I set up my own website pages where I harp on about my travels as they unfold and YOU get an email each time I update the site. Oh - and the deal part of this is that you are able to unsubscribe at any time and I won't even know. Just don't expect to still be sporting ten fingers if I do ever find out - Know what I mean... If you're still reading this then you'll see that I've posted two photos on here. One is an out of focus shot of me wearing a sun hat indoors (and looking like a twat in the process) and the other is a truly riveting picture of my rucksack looking very full before I've put a single item of clothing in ... read more

Updates: Belfast: Really cool. Quite an unusual feel with a mix of cultures and cultural history. We left Limerick early Saturday morning and arrived in Belfast by the afternoon. Unlike years past, there are no longer border checks or anything, so you don't even know when you cross from the Republic to Northern Ireland. When we got up there, the bus driver dropped us off at the Linen House Hostel where I stayed in a room of like 20 people, fortunately all from the International Society at UL. Then I went out with Chris (Dutch), Dimitri (Belgian), and Kelly (US) to explore the town. First, we went to the Belfast City Hall, which was quite an impressive building (especially when we saw it lit up later that night!). There was a Titanic exhibit there (the Titanic ... read more
