hey guys, so after our early flight we dropped off our stuff at the hostel and then decided to check out the city. it seems like a pretty normal place if you are in the middle of the city centre... you don't really see any differences between that and some other european city until someone tells you the history of things that have happened. we basically just did a walking tour of everything and then took the public bus around to both the protestant and catholic neighbourhoods on either sides of the peace line. it was really interesting to see. we were pretty tired that night so we grabbed dinner and then went to bed. the next day we went to the giant's causeway on the northern coast which was amazing! that's why we stayed the ... read more

hey guys, so it was a long trip but i made it... after determining that i had been travelling pretty much without sleep for 30 hours it made me consider why i had booked through american airlines... oh well it worked out fine and the best part was that arriving 30 hours after your leave your own country pretty much wears off any trace of jet lag. when andrea picked me up from central station it was pretty exciting and there were lots of hugs. we walked back to her dorms which are gorgeous (atleast for dorms) and after a quick shower and some food we hit up the uni bar called the Union- it was the last day of exams so it was crazy busy. its sort of like the den EXCEPT they have 7 ... read more

After Venice it was off to Austria- you can kind of see the crazy pace we've been following!! It was another long driving day and after checking out the city center it was time for bed! After getting up early we did a walking tour of the historical sites: various palaces and statues. As well as most importantly SHOPPED! The shopping was great here, as well as in Venice... wow you'd think these euros were burning holes in our pockets- but so far so good. You may have notice our entries are getting shorter, mainly because in some of these places we only have around 8 hours to see the whole city, so in Vienna we basically did shopping and then checked out one other major site, St. Stephens Cathedral (Der Weiner Stephensdem, or something llike ... read more

YEAH Venice- we love Venice!!! And it looks just like it does in the movies, with the gondolas and canals! First we left Rome and headed to Verona, where the real Romeo and Juliet were from. It was a really neat little city, and we even checked out the infamous balcony. After a long drive we didn't do much in the evening just hung around the campground, we mostly stayed indoors as there were MASSIVE mosquitos there. The next am we woke up early and took a ferry over to Venice, no cars are allowed on the islands and Venice is made up of 100 something islands altogether. Our group had a glass blowing and lace making demonstration, both were pretty neat. Our tour guide Anna told us the number one thing to do in Venice ... read more

Well next stop was Roma! A fantastic city completely full of history. \the bus ride from Florence to Rome wasn't too bad so we made it into the city pretty early and it was HOT!! Atleast 30 degrees. Our group went to the Colosseum first which was awesome, probably one of our favorite landmarks so far! It was pretty amazing... The city is full of ancient ruins all over the place, so you'll see like a traffic circle that will have have marble columns in the middle from the time of the Roman Empire, definitely different from good ol' cowtown. We basically just spent the day walking around and taking it all in, we checked out the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps as well as the Pantheon. The craziest thing about the Pantheon is that it ... read more

Amanda has made it to her homeland! Anyways we saw the leaning tower of Pisa, we got some good photos. The counterfit market here is fantastic so we both may be coming back with several genuine designer bags! Florence also was gorgeous. It was a fun night here because our tour guide took us to a pub called the Red Garter that had live music as well as a dj and dance floor. They sold their cocktails in 2litre pitchers so that made the Contiki Tour Group happy... It was a slight gongshow trying to get a taxi afterwards but the group of it managed it somehow... The next day was sight seeing around Florence, we had a guided tour and saw Ponte de Vecchio, the Duomo, the replica of David (see Money shot below hehe), ... read more

Well once you see the picture below, we ll save you the trouble and just tell you now that YES, that is Kevin Bacon. And is you saw Bridget Joans Diary you,ll notice Colin Firth was with him also. After leaving Barcelona we headed back into France and we both agree this is one of our favorite spots so far, Cannes and Nice. We loved it here... We again stayed in tiny cabins but they are clean and warm so it works. So again after we arrived we just had some more cheap wine (amanda is slowly getting a taste for wine... hehe, possibly because its the cheapest thing around?) and played some cards... The next day we took the train into Cannes and lucky for us the International Film Festival is on. So we got ... read more

Hey Guys, so now we are in Spain, Barcelona was fantastic. A city with a ton of history and a great culture. We stayed in cabins in a pretty interesting campground. One of the funniest parts has been the 747s flying overhead as we are literally a 90sec drive from the airport and so you have to stop your conversation every 2 mins because of the planes flying over head. Pretty funny. As well there is an interesting stench that would come and go... we were on a beach but we weren,t allowed to swim in the water... The hookers working the highway outside the campgrounds make for interesting scenery as well. Oh well we were only there two nights... There was a great store there that sold €1.90 wine which was awesome, so that and ... read more

This was a lot of fun! We started off the evening "checking in" to our chateaux, really it was an extremely old french mansion and we stayed there with everyone on the same floor with 2 toilets for 40+ ppl. But being able to brush your teeth and look out the window at a vinery in the french countryside is priceless! We then went to a place where wine is made and had winetasting with cheese- it was also good. We ended up buying two bottles- pretty cheap though for excellent cab- the funny part was that it was all the canadians left at the end who stayed trying to get seconds (which we did!) After dinner there was a big party themed Shock Your Mother, meaning you had to dress in a way that would ... read more

Hey Guys, So we are back tracking a bit to tell you about what we,ve done so far... so bear with us here. We,ve had limited internet access. Anyways Paris was absolutely amazing- it blew both of us away and it was much better than expected. Although we were with our tour group that day we pretty much went on our own. After leaving London we saw the white cliffs of dover and took a ferry across the channel. Then our tour took us on an evening tour of the main landmarks in Paris which was really cool and we got some great pictures! Seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time was crazy' it was just fantastic. The next day we were SUPPOSED to get up and have breakfast with the group then head on ... read more
