Somewhere close to Kensington Gardens... Well, I've been simply awful about keeping up with my online journal entry so this is my attempt to catch up before I get home! My time in London was awesome. I lived in the neighborhood of Kensington which is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in England. That means our area was safe but a bit pricey. We managed thanks to a grocery store called Sainsburys and Sandwich World where you could get a sandwich for only 2 GBPs. Not a bad deal! Our flats were located just 10 minutes from Kensington Gardens next to Kensington Palace which flows into Hyde Park. In our first week, we went on a walking tour to become familiar with the area, a bus tour to get our bearings about London in general, and all ... read more

Day 1 - Monday 25th August We arrived at 6:35am London time after a bum numbing flight from Bangkok (there’s got to be serious money in making aeroplane seats comfortable) Anyway, with minimal sleep and much excitement we arrived to be met by our tour leader Buddy and be whisked away on a morning tour of London. Well that was the plan, unfortunately Buddy slept in throwing everything into disarray. Luckily for us our tour guide, Warren, was on the job and loaded us onto the coach and got us ready to go. Just as we were about to leave we saw Buddy scurrying across the car park with a slightly embarrassed look on his face - he knows there’s a serious fine waiting for him for that one. Now all aboard and it was time ... read more

Everyday was long and tiring in London. Thu Arrived at 6am. Too early for check-in but hotel managed to provide a day room for us to wash up. Took a quick nap before heading out for a quick breakfast and meeting at London RO. Nice cosy office. Did a quick site recce before proceding to buy tickets for our musical for this evening and also collect pre-ordered tickets for my bosses. Lotsa walking in the heels and heavy lappy. Dashed back to hotel to check-in and out again to rush for our Dirty Dancing musical. Love the dancing and music. But too tired from the long flight and long day that I fell asleep during the slower parts. No appetite for dinner after the show. All I wanted was to go back to sleep. Fri ... read more

Uh, oh. I have ANOTHER entry. haha. I wanted to tell ya'll about some stuff that I have done here in London lately. At the beginning of every session, our program offers a bunch of different activities that you can participate in. Of course we have to pay for them but they get us discounted tickets for everything. For this session I signed up for the Jack the Ripper walk, Billy Elliot, Wicked (which is like the Wizard of Oz), and a boat party on the second to last day of our time here. I just recently went to Jack the Ripper and Billy Elliot. Many of you might know who Jack the Ripper is, but for those of you who don't, Jack the Ripper was a murderer in Whitechapel, a town that is just in ... read more

Well. I have not had a blog in a little while. I believe the last thing I talked about was the pub crawl I did for one of the RA's birthday's. So, the question is...what have I done since then. Well, it was my roommates 21st birthday in London, went to a play called SPAMALOT (based on the Monty Python and the Holy Grail), ate some Indian food, and went to Ireland. As many of you may know, 21 is a special year for the people in America. I dont think I need to go into detail about any birthday celebration that might take place in America because I think that everyone can imagine. However, the 21st birthday is not celebrated in the United Kingdom like it is in the United States. It did turn out ... read more

Disembarking the ship is quite a science for the Princess crew. If you follow their instructions, it is quite painless. People are going in several different directions when they arrive in Southampton and Princess is very good about getting you where you want to go. Luggage is all packed the night before and set outside the stateroom door for pick up. A tag on it identifies what your plans are when you exit the ship. Those of us going to London on private transportation had a gold tag. Jerry & Kathy, Bob & Deanie and I had booked transportation with West Quay Transportation. I found them online and booking them was quite easy and it all worked just fine. I would recommend the company if ever you need to go from Southampton to other places. Google ... read more

Hello! I've almost been here a week but it feels like I have been here for much longer than that. I really love this city. Let me tell you some things that I have done recently: The other day we went to the Tower of London which was probably one of the coolest things I have done here. We had a chance to see where all the kings lived and we also were able to see all of the crowns that Queen and Kings wore. Sorry, no pictures for those. We actually went on a tour of the White Tower, which was originally a dungeon where they kept prisoners. We had an official tour guide man and he told us that when they were brought to the dungeon, the guards would take all their money but ... read more

Hey everyone! I decided to create a travel blog so that I can put pictures up about things I am doing while I'm in London for a few weeks. I just arrived in London 2 days ago and so far I am having a wonderful time. Despite what people might think, the sun does actually come out here. We have had the pleasure of seeing the sun 2 days in a row. It was raining the first day that we got here, but since then it has really brightened up. It starts up pretty sunny and then gets kinda cold later in the evening. Yesterday, we went on an official bus tour of the city and were able to see some awesome things. London is a huge city and hard to take in all at once. ... read more

I woke up to my alarm at 7:30 am. I stumbled out of bed because my legs were aching from all the walking from the day before. I went to the basement of my hostel where they were serving breakfast. I found some dishes and poured myself a bould of corn flakes. I made myself toast and poured an essential cup of coffee. I sat with Anna, from the Ukraine. She could barely understnad me, so conversation was simple. After being worried that Harry overslept or left without me, he finally walked into the kitchen still half asleep. He ate his meal and we decided we'd start out toward Buckingham Palace and explore Hyde Park. The coffee helped with my aching legs, so before I knew it I was approaching the glistening Victoria Memorial and golden ... read more
